People outside South Africa don't know anything about his past. He is or was n murdering terrorist who killed countless of innocent white people. He sings songs of killing white people, yet everybody idolizes him. There was a reason he went to jail. White people get's raped and murdered each day  since he took over government in 94. There is no rainbow nation like the media sets out it to be. If you do a little search on him you will discover what he realy is or was.

Guys, our former President is still alive and recovering in hospital.  However, age has finally got to him.  But we do not have to disrespect him in such a manner.  Death comes to all of us, including you Mac2012. One day you will F**k your own words.

Wakeuppeople suggest Mandela may have been some murderous dictator type..is this true?

Americans only know or have been shown about Mandela. In general, Mandela was shown as some political martyr under some white run oppressive regime government control_is this false?

Whats the facts on Nelson Mandela regardless of his current situation and age? What was his life really about? Was he fighting white oppressive government control or was his reign about something else?

What is driving all this passion and anger in your responses besides Max2012 initial response? Is there some type of history here?

You really do need to be South African to understand the political situation there and how drastically things have changed in the last few years. Yes, Mandela had a lot to do with this "big change", which was necessary and needed, but he also instigated the huge amount of animosity that the general public have to pretend not to have amongst themselves and towards the government. It will take a lot more than the death of Mandela to save SA! At this point, it's neither here nor there if the man lives forever, or dies tomorrow. He is no longer in a position of power. What we all need is to stop being sheep and think for ourselves, instead of blaming the masses! We ARE the masses! God bless South Africa.

No fingers can be pointed at the past, as that does not excuse what is still going on, on a daily basis in SA. Murders, rapes, hate crimes still take place towards whites every day... When last did you read that a bunch of white men went into a black's house, and raped, tortured and murdered the black people? It just doesn't happen... Farmers are killed everyday, but nothing ever happens about that... Is Mandela an Icon? Or is he still a murderer? The bible says do not commit murder, or the gates of heaven will not be opened to you? Please don't forget that a "white man" released Mandela, but no one calls him an icon... Stop the farm killings, rapes etc... or our country will be just another Zimbabwe... and how has that worked out? Whites have every right to have what we have, and be who we are! We have worked for it, and we are not responsible for what was done before us, however what is happening now, someone has to take responsibility for? Once the killings stop, and black, and white are treated equal, then SA will be a beautiful country again, but untill then, White South Africans are simply living under a corrupt, manipulative Black Oppressive Government. Where is the Fairness about that? Is this What Mandela stands for?

dear NoMoreSheep Nelson Madela never committed murder or any crime which justifies being jailed for 27 years. He was jailed by the white colonial government to break up the uprising of the blacks against the colonial government. Even after all he went through he only preached forgiveness and respect and equality for all. Crime is part of live it happens all over the world I dont know how Madiba can be held responsible for crimes committed by others. And by the way the whites have what they have because their forefathers stole what rightfully belonged to the blacks. If you call the current government oppressive , what do you want to call the Apartheid government? Go to your perfect little word ruled by whites where your genius idea of white supremacy will be embraced. We will do fine without you.
