Is now really a bad time for direct talks?

Here is an article that claims this to be a bad time for direct talks, despite the fact that all of the principals recently have expressed interest on the record.

Also in this article is an unlikely tie between two-state negotiations and Israeli conversion legislation.

Actually I am not sure that the headline reflects your point very well. They are not related at all. In fact the conversion bill, as it is called, is dead in the water. The direct talks are presently being held up by the unwillingness of Abbas to get to the table. The U.S. and Egypt are presently trying to put pressure on him, to sit down. I think that he got caught off guard by the Israeli PM's willingness to talk directly NOW about all issues.
