Sri Lanka will no longer be getting the 30 to 40 million Euros from Netherlands every year.

April 07, 2009 (LBO) -

The Netherlands will stop giving aid to Sri Lanka due to an internal conflict, ending a longstanding partnership which had given 30 to 40 million Euros each year to the island, a media report said.

A web report of the British Broadcasting Corporation's Sinhala Service said the Netherlands government had informed the country's parliament that it had terminated aid to a number of countries along with Sri Lanka.

Dutch development minister Bert Koenders was quoted on a BBC web report as saying that the reason the aid to Sri lanka was stopped was due to the violence that is prevailing in the country.

"We think it is very difficult to work in Sri Lanka because of the violence. So, we will end our partner-country relationship with Sri Lanka," the BBC quoted Dutch development minister Bert Koenders as saying.

Netherlands will stop sending aid to Eritrea, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cape Verde and Macedonia too.

Dutch aid to Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cape Verde and Macedonia would also end.

I totally agree with you B12N. But since big brother China is supporting Sri lanka, it will give whatever aid the SL government needs. Therefore, the war crimes will continue.

Thank you for the link.
