2009 elections for the European Union in the Netherlands. Every european country elects its own representatives for the European Union. June 4th its Hollands turn.

On the photo a detail of a streetcampaignboard promoting Dutch poltical parties. The guys in the middle are members of the Partij Voor de Vrijheid (The Party For Freedom). The guy to the left is Barry Madlener (never heard of) and the guy backing him with the bleech hairdo is Geert Wilders .. the provocatist founder and frontman of de partij.

De PVV is a right wing, radical anti moslim party. They have gained support tremendously last years. PVV forms a front for racist, and especially anti-moroccan sentiments in the Netherlands. The prognose for gaining major electoral support by the PVV is strong and that makes a lot of people nervous. Next year there will be national elections in the Netherlands, so the EU vote is - mas o menos - only electional foreplay.

Concerning me and the Europian elections. I am proponent of getting Turkey in the European Union as soon as possible because i mucho like fresh baklava and turkish delight. Alas, i did not find a party yet that promotes that point of view in europe and for sure mr Madlener and the P from the V do not.
