Senate candidate Sharron Angle who recently agreed to a debate with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) on October 14th, said that there most likely will not be any other debate besides the one announced.

Politico is reporting that negotiations for another debate sponsored by Sunbelt Communications and the Las Vegas Sun are at a standstill.

Reid's campaign agreed in mid-July to the Las Vegas Sun debate, but Angle spokesman Jarrod Agen said their campaign won't participate. Agen said they do not view that debate as nonpartisan, because the Las Vegas Sun is one of the sponsors — and Sun president and editor Brian Greenspun is an outspoken Reid supporter. The proposed Oct. 19 debate would be moderated by Sun reporter Anjeanette Damon, Sun columnist Jon Ralston and a northern Nevada reporter yet to be confirmed.

"We do not view the Sunbelt and Las Vegas Sun request as a nonpartisan venue, and we are only accepting nonpartisan debate requests," said Agen.

Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele, meanwhile, defended the debate organizers.

"The fact that Sharron Angle's new D.C. handlers are impugning the integrity of respected Nevada journalists like Jon Ralston and Anjeanette Damon as biased political hacks ... shows how completely disingenuous they've been throughout this process and how staunchly committed they are to muzzling their candidate's extreme and dangerous agenda from the voters of Nevada," Steele said.
