Local media, citing a police affidavit, said a young child told authorities that Nevaeh Buchanan had been "kidnapped" by a "bad man" who stabbed her. But police said they had no reason to think the girl was dead. "We are hopeful she is still alive," Monroe County, Mich., Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield told reporters Thursday. "We have no indication that she is not still alive." Nevaeh was last seen Sunday evening in the parking lot of the apartment complex where she lives with her mother in Monroe. Authorities identified convicted sex offender Roy Lee Smith, 48, as a person of interest but stressed no one has been charged in Nevaeh's disappearance. Police described Smith as an associate of Nevaeh's mother, 24-year-old Jennifer Buchanan, the Detroit News reported. Police have searched a van owned by Smith and sent a silver multi-tool found in the vehicle's unlocked glove box for lab testing. Detroit television station WXYZ reported blood was found on the tool. Police had earlier identified convicted sex offender George Kennedy, 39, as a person of interest. Kennedy, who has been described as Buchanan's boyfriend, was being held on an unrelated parole violation. Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said investigators were looking at every angle as they search for Nevaeh.

i think someone knows or seen something. There are to many people that live in that complex to not have seen or heard something. This little girl did not disappear into thin air.

I have been watching the tv news about this childs' disappearance. And I've been praying for little Nevaeh to be found and brought home safely.
But I heard that the body of a small child has been found in the river near where Nevaeh lived, and if it is Nevaeh then my opinion is that this little girls' mother is involved in what happened to this child.
The mother might be a sexual predator herself. The mother said something like: no one knows who is a sexual predator until the predator is labeled. The mother may be an un-labeled sexual predator. And/or the mother may have helped these sex perpetrators carry out crimes against her own child. Also the mother failed a lie-detector test--very suspicious. My opinion is that the mother is involved.
Also, from watching the mother on television she seems very concerned about her sexual predator friends and unconcerned about her missing child--very strange.

This mother is friends with two convicted sex offenders?????? She lets this filth around her five-year old daughter? The police call them persons of interest???? No duh. The police think this little girl is still alive???? Come on. Did we not learn from the Jessica Lunsford case in Florida? This is heartbreaking. That poor little baby is probably dead.

Yea the mom is not the best thing that has happened to little neveah, but i will keep looking for this poor child, i have been out there everyday until she is found, we just want her to come home safe,

I think the mom had something to do with her disapearance... she hardly every crys and never shows up to the searches. my brother drowned in 90 and my mom and dad couldnt find him but when my mom did they were in complete shock to where the cops asked if they wanted the ambulance to give them something to calm them down... my mom and dad refused it... but my point is that if she really cared she would be out there helping everyone search and be crying constantly!!!

She behaves this way because in her heart and mind she knows her child is dead and she knows who did. And even worse she knows she is completely responsible for allowing two convicted sex offenders access to her daughter.

Speaking of Casey Anthony... If she had only dated a sex offender (as this mother did) she would probably be in the clear now. It very well could be that this mother thought she was just a bit smarter than Casey and associated herself with these kind of men to throw off suspision.

i think neveah will come home safe well i hope she dose and i am really sorry if she dose not come home safe!!!!!!! Thank You. You're the only one who has a positive outlook. We keep this little girl in our prayers.
I was in a retail store a couple days ago and heard a coded announcement over the p.a. system. Well, you don't have to think to hard to understand the message. Luckily, the child was safe and had just wandered away looking for g'ma.
I kept walking looking both ways and under clothing racks ~ I watched as my aunt BOLTED for the door ready to take on anyone trying to leave with a child. That brought tears to my eyes.
Complete strangers will band together like that reminded me how important life is and how special the people in this country are. Always ready to take the risk to keep another soul safe.

You have not read the whole story. Her mother does not really care for her. She deliberately put her daughter in harms way knowing the terrible consequences Neveah may suffer as a result of her bad judgment. This is not the behaviour of a loving and caring mum.

Breaking news just came on and reported that her body was found in the river two miles from home. They have confirmed it was her. All we can do is pray for the family now.

I do not think that any sex offender should ever date a woman who has children under 16. not because he wants to reoffend but the way it looks to others.
Somehow I do not believe this man is guilty since he would be the first person they would look at and try to pin this on and who ever did this knew damn well that they had a convenient scapegoat for the media and the simple minded to point the finger at.

the little girl's mother associated with known sexual predators, and did jail time for home burglaries.
Here's what I bet: the mother is a burnout- her sexual predator boyfriend owed for drugs-and the mother offered the little girl to pay the drug debt-
If the mother didn't do this- she should be tried for guilty by association of hanging out with sex freaks and for child abuse for allowing sexual predators to be around her child-
