As the second season of IPL is getting closer, people of Kolkata are getting more and more excited about their dream team- Kolkata Knight Riders. The atmosphere at the Eden Gardens will once again turn electrifying when two courageous souls, King Khan of Bollywood and our ‘dada’ Sourav will reunite on April 11. The whole city will again feel the vibration, which will be created by the huge sound boxes at the Eden Gardens when ‘Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re’ will be played.
The spirit of Kolkata for its dream went down a little as there was a question mark on Kolkata Knight Riders playing all, of their seven home matches at Eden, but with the announcement of Jagmohan Dalmiya, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB )president, it is back in full force. The huge stadium will once again get thickly crowded with cricket-crazy people wearing black t-shirt with golden stripes on both sides, the jersey of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Though 11 men, lead by Sourav Ganguly, play twenty-20 cricket following all rules and regulations of the game, Kolkata Knight Riders is not just a team. It’s a brand. Not only in Kolkata, but it’s a huge brand all over India, thanks to the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, Shahrukh Khan. It is like a hen laying golden eggs for the sponsors and a product that they happily promote. Last year, Nokia, the official sponsor of the team capitalized well from the IPL and this time the telecom company is likely to invest more for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ matches are great for the CAB too as the tickets are quite costly and there is practically no chance of any wastage. In fact, last the IPL has been proved to be a great time for the sponsors and organizers to encash people’s love for cricket. Especially in the current phase of global financial crisis, these sponsors are likely to go few steps forward to make sure that that their balance sheets look good at the very beginning of the year.
But these are minute facts and matters of concerns for people who invest money on cricket events. For us, the cricket lovers of Kolkata and the fans of Sourav-King Khan combination, IPL is a carnival that drains out all worries, tensions and fatigue and makes us cheer in chorus “Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re’. The magic happened last year and this year it will be even bigger.
So its a gap of just one month in the middle and then, we Kolkattans, will change our address. It will be Eden Gardens during all the home matches of Kolkata Knight Riders. We ate Aslog Technologies Pvt Ltd and ebizzkolkata.com are die-hard Kolkattans and ardent fans of Kolkata Knight Riders and we wish our dream success the biggest success at the IPL. Last year we failed to achieve it but this time we will surely ‘Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re’.
