New BBC service neatly sidesteps Now Public

Finally an opportunity for all us disgruntled Now Public members, fed up with all that highlighting of news and people thinking they are contributing something....
If you are someone who can generate ORIGINAL content, the the BBC (gotta love em!) are launching a new service that will allow a proper airing of on-the-ground citizen reporting. The folks at Np had better start thinking about what NP really is (hint - think of it as an expanded capability social bookmarking site for news).
It does seem they are only interested in images and video
Thousands of videos, pictures and emails are sent in to the BBC every week and we are now choosing the best ones to make it onto a new show called Your World News.So what do you have to do to make it on the programme? Quite simply, get out there and send us what's happening in your world.
You could film a protest on your mobile, snap some fantastic weather pictures on your camera or record yourself on your webcam reacting to the week's big stories. But remember you should never put yourself in danger or break any laws.

NP has long touted itself as a news organisation. There were even moves at one stage for press passes. So they are in fact, if one is to believe the spin, very similar.

Very interesting! I think there is rather more recycled material on NP than I expected when I began writing.

Most news is recycled. Hence you hear the same news on TV on different channels, word for word at times.

Once they start including it on their website it will be huge - BBC is the most accessed single news organisation - over half via mobile web browsing.

agreed, but I think CNN's iReport will still have the upper hand because they are produce a very nice weekly program about iReport. The BBC have lost a lot of respect recently?

This is an important point you brought up.
At BBC, the news is still censored at the end.
With NP, it is more open, more freedom of speech.

"Censorship" occurs in all media organisations - including NP. Don't think that everything posted is published!
Besides, is it censorship or editorial policy?
