Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is confronting more difficulties with the Parliament (Masjid). After his Home Minister was shamefully impeached for forging an PhD degree from Oxford University, Ahmadinejad is set to confront yet another motion over his unfulfilled promises. In addition, another impeachment is due over the managerial performance of his Communication Information Technology Minister. This political move would force the whole cabinet under a vote of confidence.  It is indeed a very difficult time for Ahmadinejad before the presidential elections in June 2009.
Iranian lawmakers seek a motion to scrutinize the 'unfulfilled promises' made by the administration of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  "A request to probe into the unfulfilled promises, unlawful enactments and government funding of provincial tours has so far obtained the signature of thirteen lawmakers," ISNA has quoted the spokesman of the minority parliamentary bloc, Dariush Qanbari, as saying.   According to the official, lawmakers from both the majority and minority blocs in parliament are among the advocates of the motion, which will be presented to the Majlis Presiding Board in the coming days.   After his election in 2005, President Ahmadinejad along with his cabinet ministers began touring Iranian provinces periodically on the grounds that the initiative would allow the administration to better understand and resolve the problems faced by the nation.  While Iranian lawmakers have occasionally criticized the Ahmadinejad administration over the initiative, the sought motion is the most serious Majlis struggle over the issue.  Critics of the motion have said that the provincial tours have had immense benefits for the country. President Ahmadinejad has defended his administration on the issue, saying he and his cabinet members eat simple food to minimize travel expenditures.
The news that the lawmakers have sought the motion comes on the heels of a Majlis vote against the division and provision of the national budget to the various provinces of the country.  During his tours, President Ahmadinejad would allocate money from the national budget to the province being visited.
