Sri Lankan rebel group the Tamil Tigers say they are forming a "provisional transnational government" to pursue self-rule for the Tamil minority.

In a statement released from an unknown location, a Tigers' spokesman said the new body would advance what he said was the next phase of the struggle.

The move comes almost a month after the government declared it had finally defeated the Tamil Tigers, or LTTE.

Rebels had fought for decades for a Tamil homeland in the island's north.

Its not going to stop while these people hate each other, Tamil Tigers are going underground at a guess within a year more terrorism.

You're right, there's a chance the hatred will never stop Babel-Fish. But I wonder if the IDP's will have to stay longer in the camps because of the statement made by the Tiger's spokesman. This could just make matters worse for the civilians held in the camps since the Sri Lankan government might use this as an excuse to keep them longer in there. The reason they give might be that they are still screening the civilians to make sure their not LTTE rebels and that they do not support the LTTE.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, June 16 (UPI) -- The defeated Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers say they have set up a novel 'transnational government' to work for a separate Tamil Eelam or Tamil homeland.

An opinion column Monday in the TamilNet, which the Tigers use to announce their activities, said a transnational government is different from a government in exile.

"A government in exile functions outside of its territory with an aim of taking control of that territory … But the transnational government we speak of is a novel experiment that has no precedence."
