Hong Kong won’t be getting its new cruise terminal until 2013 at the earliest after the Government decided to re-tender for the re-development of the former airport site at Kai Tak.
The two consortia’s proposals which were submitted earlier this year were deemed eligible. The consortia are Cheung Kong (Holdings) with Ceres Terminals, and Sun Hung Kai Properties, with Star Cruises.
The government hopes to re-tender by the end of this year, with a decision being made on the winner by the third quarter of 2009. The first berth of the new cruise terminal is expected to be in operation by the second quarter of 2013.
