New Jersey 7-Year-Old Gang Rape: Stepfather Defends Some Men
A New Development in the Case of the 7-Year-Old Gang Raped in New Jersey; Her Stepfather is Defending Three of the Men Accused
It's a case that has shocked not only the community of Trenton, New Jersey, but of the whole country and even beyond; a seven-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her 15-year-old stepsister at a party and she was then gang raped by at least seven different men.
At first three adults and three juveniles were arrested, including a man named Gregory Leary according to the New York Daily News, and now the stepfather of the seven-year-old (who has not been named to protect her privacy) has come to the Trenton courthouse to say three of the five men arrested are innocent.
Family members of the suspects called the girl's stepfather to help them plead for their family members' innocence. The family have the man's number on speed dial according to the NY Daily News:
"These three had nothing to do with nothing; I don't know why they locked them up," the stepfather said of Gregory Leary, 20; Timear Lewis, 19; and a 17-year-old whom authorities have not identified because of his age.
The stepfather has not been named, but he believes three of the men are innocent and that they actually tried to help the girl and not rape her.
Five men and boys have been arrested in the case, with one suspect just 13 and another 14. The stepsister of the seven-year-old has been charged with promoting prostitution.
One of the men accused, Gregory Lewis, has his mother on his side saying that yes her son was there, but he did not touch anyone. The police do have DNA evidence from the crime but those details have not been released. The prosecution in the case may have to hinge their argument on the testimony of the young girl herself.
The alleged rape took place on March 28 at the Rowan Tower apartment building in Trenton New Jersey. The 15-year-old took money for sex first and then offered her seven-year-old stepsister to some of the men who wanted to touch her. The situation quickly escalated to rape and there are now reports that some of the men were armed. The men allegedly told the young girl that they would kill her if she screamed or told anyone.
The stepfather does admit that his older daughter should have not taken the younger girl there, and thinks that while three of the men are innocent that he still thinks his stepdaughter was raped by several men.
"My daughter said these guys were trying to help her," he said. "If you had a gun pointed to your head, you wouldn't be able to do nothing, either."
Gregory Leary's lawyer says the girl is making it all up.
"She was not raped, was not gang-raped," Robin Lord said, adding that the girl's memory is "forever tainted" because she's been given toys, gifts and money.
Police have stated that they are expecting to make more arrests.

Kind of lost for words is the only way one can finish up after reading something like that.

The 15 year old sister should be put to death for doing such a thing in the first place. She was 15 years old so she definitely knew better. Do the world a favor and rid society of this whore of Babylon.

Even if the little girl was given toys gifts and money it was still rape. She was 7. She's wasn't even old enough for it to be considered consensual. Don't blame it on the memory! Wrong is wrong and there is nothing right about this situation at all!

I 100% agree with MissBrittany. How could they do that to an innocent child, this whole thing has made me sick to my stomach, I keep praying for the little girl and that our lord will take care of her. Rapists, child molesters, they should all be thrown into a pit and stoned to death. They are sorry and will look for any way out of what they did and not take the responsibilty for destroying innocent lives. God have mercy on there souls when they have their judgement day with him. Exactly. A seven-year-old can't consent to sex, and as for claiming her memory is "tainted" with money, toys, and gifts, a medical exam would prove rape. It's one thing to claim "touching", but rape is very provable.

This is super sad!! I also don't know why the stepfather is defending some of the guys, but I hope they are all caught. I find it hard to believe that some people tried to stop it because the 15 year old sold herself and the 7 year old. I doubt she is making it up because almost every 7 year old doesn't know what rape is and toys wouldn't have her make that up.

This story is so disgusting on so many levels. how can the 15 year old stepsister encourage and allow this to happen? who cares if a million dollars was offered on the table, there is no monetary amount that could justify what happened. and maybe the stepfather is defending some of the men, as he might have touched the 7 year old girl too, maybe she has been raped previously by him, as i can't imagine why he would defend anybody. i guess he's not her natural father and he must feel he needs to protect his biological 15 year old, but he shouldn't argue with the facts. what happened, happened, and blood or not, you need to admit when something crossed the line and at 15 she knew right from wrong. shoot, i knew right from wrong when i was 10, maybe earlier. the 15 year old was just greedy for cash and didn't care about the psychological trauma she would aid in inflicting. she has no compassion, no sense of humanity, a complete shameful disgrace! put her away in jail for the rest of her life! there's no redemption for this crime. she'll probably prostitute and offer for rape her own kids. what a nasty, despicable girl!

I am a mother and grandmother. First I lift this family in prayer. There is a long road to recovery for this baby who's innocence has been shattered. There is a long road to recovery for her sister that has a lot of pain in her life to have thought this was ok. If you know better you do better. No it is not acceptable nor an excuse for anyone's behavior. I don't even know what to think about the stepfather. I don't people realize less is better or sometimes sit down and be quiet truly means... DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF??? OMG these are two girls and one of them is a baby that has been devastated. There is no justification for them boys that acted like animals. I pray God has mercy on you. I will give you more mercy than you gave to her. It is hard to comprehend because there is no understanding. It is a terrible heinous crime. There was no decency in any of this and therefore their punishment should be just as harsh. This is pure hate and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and no deals. They will turn on each other to save their neck but no deals please. We need to start sending clear concise messages that there is zero tolerance. A baby being gang raped? My God and then the stepdaddy coming to their aid... But we live in a fallen world and people rather live out fantasies and just do horrible things without thought, remorse or consequences. Lord I pray for this baby and ask that You would put a hedge of protection around her as she embarks on her path of recovery and healing. The mere fact of even debating a seven year old giving consent to sex is absurd. So moving on it was rape. She cannot say yes have sex and understand fully. Are you serious? Usually when a person is caught it is not because it is their first time...That's even scarier. I am not 100% believer that it is completely the parents fault. I will say it should be shared. Children are giving birth to children earlier and not able to properly take care of them and they are not dual parents home. Sometimes the parents are so concerned with work or enjoying their life they rather the child do whatever as long as they had their space. That's horrible thing to write but it is a sad fact of life. If we are a product of our environment then our children are a product of their parents? Children outside late. When I was growing up we had to be in before the sun hit the roof was my mother and father's famous saying. The saddest thing right now is the moment when the little baby asks why did she allow this or encourage this? What did I do?

I am enraged at the thought of a man who is supposed to be a father figure in this childs life taking the side of the perpertrators. I could'nt even fathom as an adult what my father would do in this situation let alone if I was an innocent child. Regardless of who his biological child is wrong is wrong, and parents need to put their foot down and stop defending their kids in the face of horrendous situations such as this. If I was this childs mother I would consider the future with my so called husband to be a fragile one, because his actions is showing that he does not have this child's best interest. This case is on my mind nearly every day, and I hope and pray that this baby is getting counseling services, because she is going to have a difficult road ahead of her.
