Republican Chris Christie is now Governor-elect of New Jersey, defeating incumbent Democrat John Corzine.  Christie received 48.8 per cent of the vote to Corzine's 44.6 per cent

The campaign was mainly focused around taxes, namely the high taxes the New Jersey residents pay, among the highest in the country. This is the first time in 10 years that Republican has become Governor of New Jersey
