New Republican-led House set to read Constitution
Members of the new Republican-led House of Representatives are set to take part Thursday in an unusual reading of the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the chamber.
The move was initially conceived primarily as an expression of the GOP's small government values and a nod to conservative Tea Party activists who helped propel the Republicans to their landslide victory in last November's midterm elections.
While some progressives have derided the event as a political stunt, some Democrats are now taking part in the reading as well.
The reading is expected to take several hours.
