New York (Happy New Year!) - the center-point of all New Year's celebrations in New York is the Times Square with its famous ball drop; an estimated one million people celebrate New Year's at the Times Square every year. The celebrations will feature musical performances, confetti and pyrotechnic displays. Ahead of the New Year's celebrations, people had a chance to hit the Times Square to get rid of anything that holds bad memories for them in what is now called the "Good Riddance Day."

London

Moscow
(S Novim Godom!) - the Kremlin's clock bell in Red Square will count down to year 2010 amidst fireworks and live performances.

Tokyo (Kinga Shinnen!) - before the New Year's, balloons are to be flown to pray for happiness and peace; people will write their wishes on paper and wait for the countdown. Be prepared to hear bells of all the temples ring 108 times at midnight.

Sydney
(Happy New Year!) - Sydney is spectacular around New Year's with the the firing of the Harbour canon at 1 PM and until midnight, and fireworks from the Harbour Bridge.
