New York Upper West Side Shooting Leaves Four Dead
In New York's Upper West Side, there has been a shooting this afternoon leaving four people dead. The building, located at 492 Amsterdam Avenue, was the scene of the shooting, in apartment 3-S, where three people were found dead, and one more found dead in the backyard.
It has now been revealed that the man who died in the backyard fell to his death after killing a grandfather, a son and a grandson and then wounding the youngest victim's mother. The motive for the killing is not known at this time. Police are looking in to the fact that it may be drug related.
A man in his 20s and his father were killed in the bedroom of the apartment, while the grandfather was shot to death in the bathroom. When the gunman tried to escape down the fire escape, he slipped and fell to his death.
The 49-year-old mother walked in as the shooting was taken place and she was injured but not killed.
She was injured during the assault - either by a grazed bullet or a pistol whipping - and taken to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in stable condition.
Police were called to the scene at about 2pm via a 911 call and by 2:45pm there were 'hundreds' of police lining the area according to a witness.
