Newark Memorial High School Lockdown: Teen Had Loaded Gun
Newark Memorial High School was on lockdown today for several hours when a teen was discovered with a loaded gun near the campus. Students were locked down in the classrooms for several hours and parents were angry that the couldn't pick up their children and gathered nearby to wait for the ok to collect their children.
Students inside the school posted on Twitter and Facebook about being scared and hungry.
The police were called to the campus at 39375 Cedar Blvd at about 11:15 am because of a disturbance and that is when they found the teen with a gun near the campus.
One of the people was immediately detained, and he was found to be carrying a loaded weapon, Douglas said.
Police canvassed the area and held a few other suspects, but they believe there is at least one person who remains unaccounted for on campus. Although it is unclear if there are any other weapons involved, police are proceeding with caution.
There was no active shooter however and the search was precautionary.
