What's with the capitalization in this story?  Government and Population shouldn't be capitalized.

Neither should Man and Abortion.

This opinion piece definitely has alot of strong opinion in it...but fact is lacking.  Abortion was not legalized in 1988.  Abortion has been legal in Canada for 40 years.  In 1988, Morgentaler was instrumental in the then current abortion legislation being struck down as unconstitutional.

Thanks to the work of Morgentaler, we are the only civilized country in the word with no law regulating abortion.  Abortions may be performed in this country, on demand, right up until the woman goes into natural labour.  That's right; 9 months.  Good luck finding a doctor to do it, but it doesn't erase the fact that it is legal.

In this country, sex-selection abortions are common, as are abortions for small anomalies or deformities, such as cleft lip and palate are mild kidney disorder.  I don't think Morgentaler has done anyone a favour.  had he, however, followed through and seen a law enacted in Canada, I could possibly have a shred of respect for him.

Again, Forgive my the way I capitalise words, I do at times mix the rules of French, English, German, Tamacheck and Japanese as I writ! 

Well I refered to the article by CGBC in Monreal, Quebec, Canada and that is where 1988 came up as the date said to be. I will double check this how ever!

It is not an opinion piece, I strongly made sure that my personal Opinion would stay out of it and merely reported the facts unlike others! Since this is rather sensitive issue with high emotions and strong opinions, I believed it best to stay neutral and report the facts, the rest is up to the reader!

Morgentaler his work and believes are his , may they be right or wrong is for every one to decide personally, he is been awarded the Order of Canada, this reflects in part Canada's opinion at least from enough Canadian to make it possible for him to receive this distiction!

Like I said, I report the facts and try not to let my self be involved emotionaly even though in this case I would like to! Yet I reported the Story believing it to be important for every one to know and to react to it! The issue of abortion and its legality is being broth up again around the World and especially in Quebec today, I believe it is good to bring it up again since it is a very controvercial law!

The following are opinions, and have no basis in fact:

"This puts the minority Government in an embarrassing position since the Conservative Government lead by Steven Harper would like to see the right for abortions revoked as well as the right for Gay Marriages!"

Harper clearly noted that he would not touch the issue of abortion.  the only bill to be put forth restricting access to abortion in Canada was recently put forth via a private member's bill by a Liberal party member, NOT a Conservative.  This bill was to attempt to restrict the abortions in Canada to the first 20 weeks of gestation.

"The Governor General how ever will give the Order of Canada to Mister Morgentaler, regardless of Government objection From the Conservative Government and a fierce fight in the Canadian Parliament between the opposition and the Conservative Government!"

Harper and his conservative have voiced no opinion on this matter, and since the award was received by Morgentaler, Harper has been clear that the government has no place in the rulings of the office of the Governor General regarding the Order of Canada.  there was no fierce Parliamentary debate over the issue!

There was, however, opposition.  You failed to mention from where.  Polls were conducted in non-partisan, national news sources in February, when the official nomination process takes place.  Over 90% of Canadians citizens did not wish to see Morgentaler receive the Order of Canada.  He was not put on the official nominations list.  Behind closed doors, the GG's office bypassed standard protocol (requiring a unanimous decision by the committee) and went to a panel vote. He is the first Canadian ever to receive the Order this way.  It seems they waited until the last minute and bent the rules to induce him.

One thing is true, regardless of how you feel about abortion, Canadians should be appalled at the manner in which Morgentaler received the award.  It is an insult to the Office of the Governor General, and to the democratic process.  For this reason, we should contact the Governor General.

I give my opinion in the form of my open letter to the Governor General on March 4, 2008.

Re: Dr. Henry Morgentaler and the Order of Canada

To my great disappointment I have recently learned that Dr. Henry Morgentaler is

being considered for the 'Order of Canada'. What a disgrace and a dishonor to me a Canadian and to our country that our government should even consider giving the Order of Canada to the Father of abortionists, i.e., Dr. Henry Morgentaler.

There is presently a poll being conducted online by the 'Globe and Mail'. The question is:

"Should Dr. Henry Morgentaler be awarded the Order of Canada?"

As of February 26/08 the results of the poll is:

Yes---11% 24, 516 votes

No---89% 190, 195 votes

This poll sends a clear message. The overwhelming majority of Canadians are against

the abortionist, Dr. Henry Morgentaler being the recipient of the Order of Canada.

What has the abortionist, Dr. Henry Morgentaler done that prompts the majority of Canadians to vote against him receiving the Order of Canada? I will begin to answer this with facts from Statistics Canada.

Since 1970 till 2004 there has been 2,792,280 Canadians who were legally murdered

in their mother's womb. This is all due to the unrelenting, tireless efforts of Dr. Henry

Morgentaler who pioneered and spearheaded the battle for legalized abortion here in Canada. His trial in 1988 led to all abortion laws being removed in Canada.

On February 26, 2008 I cast my vote on the Globe and Mail poll. I voted 'NO!'. Why?

Because Dr. Henry Morgentaler is not a person who should be recognized for the Order of Canada due to a "lifetime of distinguished service in or to a particular community, group or field of activity." Rather, he has been the leader, the Father of all "aborterrorists".

An 'aborterrorist' is any abortionist who is also a terrorist by nature of his profession.

He is also the worst of all terrorist to be feared in this world! The reason I say this is that when we adults are attacked by terrorists we have means of defending ourselves against the terrorists, but the poor, innocent and defenseless baby in it's mother's womb is given

no warning of its sudden, macabre and barbaric death through the hands of the worse of

terrorists, known to us as 'abortionists'. From this day onwards I shall call them 'aborterrorists'.

Imagine yourself before 'you' were born (and thank God you were not aborted), when

you were safe and sound in your mother's womb and ALL OF A SUDDEN you are

terrorized! ALL OF A SUDDEN there is a suction tube, a powerful vacuum that tears

and dismembers you, cutting and sucking the pieces of your body into the attached container. ALL OF A SUDDEN you no longer exist! You have been butchered. You

You are DEAD! I enclose an attached photo of an 'abortion by vacuum aspiration' as

well as other abortion photos. I shudder when I think that this is the most common early surgical technique of abortion!!! Other photos can be seen at the following websites:

Another horrible method of abortion is the partial birth abortion (D & X) where the 'fully formed' (up to 9 months) , fully alive baby is pulled out feet first out of the mother's womb except for the head. Then the aborterrorist inserts scissors into the base of the living baby's skull and is spread apart. A suction tube is inserted into the skull and the

baby's brains are suctioned out. This kills the baby, it collapses. The baby's head and the DEAD baby is removed.

You want to thank God you were born when abortion was still illegal in Canada.

You can also thank God your mother was not pro-choice or you would not be Governor

General today.

As Governor General you said in the recent Throne Speech: "Canada was founded on the principles of peace, order and good government. This is the birthright of all Canadians

yet Canadians feel less safe today and rightly worry about the security of their neighborhoods and the country. There is no greater responsibility for a government than to protect this right to safety and security."

I say to you, the Governor General of Canada, that there is no one who has a greater

need of this protection for its safety and security than the UNBORN CHILD in its mother's womb.

We need to restore the greatest 'birthright' of all Canadians. That greatest birthright is the 'right to be born, the right to live out one's whole life, from the moment of conception

till its natural death'.

From the 'moment of conception' the human being (fetus) in the womb of its mother is in a "process of becoming" a "person" irregardless whether he or she is perfect or imperfect. To suddenly put a stop to this "process of becoming" a person by the means of an abortion is MURDER, is putting an end to a precious LIFE that has only just begun, from the 'moment of conception'.

The 'neighborhood' most threatened today is the womb of all pregnant mothers wherein lives a human being. We need to defend its life against attacks by the aborterrorists!! This Canadian HOLOCAUST must end!!

I urge you, I beg you, Michaelle Jean, as the Governor General of Canada please don't grant to the Father of all aborterrorists, Dr. Henry Morgentaler, the Order of Canada and bring shame to our country. Rather give it to some worthy pro-life Canadian who has devoted their life to stopping the scourge of abortion and in defending the poor, innocent ones in their mother's womb. These Canadians are most worthy of the Order of Canada. This would bring great honors to Canada.

It is my deepest, heartfelt prayer, that you, Michaelle Jean, upon reading this letter

and seeing these macabre photos (the reality of this horror) of dismembered, butchered babies, will be moved to compassion for the plight of the unborn and realize that granting

the Order of Canada to Dr. Henry Morgentaler would be outright blasphemy in God's eyes and in the eyes of the majority of Canadians. It would only further the cause of aborterrorism.

I would be most grateful to receive a response to my letter from you personally.

For the cause of LIFE of the yet to be born,

May they all have the right to live out their LIFE to the full as we have.

MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL CANADIANS

In Canada, there is no protection for the unborn child at any stage of its development. Therefore, abortions may be performed at any time during the pregnancy of the mother.

Only after a child is "fully born" does it become a "person" with full rights and privileges under Canadian law.

Thus, it is my most heartfelt prayer that by means of the Media and the Internet that this message reaches into the homes of all Canadians, and the world. May their hearts be moved to take action in defending the unborn and restore our laws against abortion and its terror. Let us remember, SILENCE KILLS. The unborn in the mother's womb are counting on us to SPEAK OUT in their defense. Will 'you' rise up and speak out and approach your Member of Parliament for the defense of the unborn?!
