Newt Gingrich hoped to make some gains in the April 24 primaries in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

However, Mitt Romney swept all five primaries. Even had Gingrich won them all, he'd still be trailing far behind Romney.

Newt Gingrich hoped for a big win in Delaware, for all that good that would have done his faltering campaign.

The question is, why not suspend the campaign now? "Logistical reasons" were cited; though this is isn't just a Newt Gingrich primary campaign, but also a New Gingrich book tour.
