Newt Gingrich Sleeping Video: Nap During AIPAC Interivew
Newt Gingrich On-Camera Nap During AIPAC Interview
Newt Gingrich is exhausted, what with Super Tuesday 2012 campaigning and whatnot. So don't rush to quickly to judgement when you see the video of Newt Gingrich falling asleep on camera ahead of an AIPAC interview.
A bit stranger was the fact that Newt Gingrich didn't seem too sure of exactly whom he was talking to. Newt asked if there were any questions from the panel. There was no panel, and therefore no questions. Awkward silence ensued.
At one point, he woke up and was either thinking about the secretary of defense or was talking about him with someone not seen. “Listening to Panetta is not a relaxing experience,” Gingrich said, before slipping away into nap time again.
AIPAC is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee- what with the saber-rattling going on in and towards Iran lately, GOP candidates are keep to prove that they have an informed opinion on the subject.
Newt Gingrich's “We need a fundamental reassessment of our entire understanding of the threat of radical Islam” doesn't necessarily reassure us that he has such an opinion, but one supposes that his vague response was better than continued sleeping.
Anyone who has ever sat through a long meeting on very little sleep can sympathize with poor Newt at least a little: that effort required to keep your head up and your eyes open, the need to throw a few vague sentences in to reassert your presence in the room.
We're pretty sure at this point that Monster Energy is not making in-kind contributions to Newt Gingrich's primary campaign.
