NP Rank:
Niagara Falls is a Contradiction
One of the most beautiful and spectacular Wonders of the World is surrounded by some of the most strange and curious. Any time of year, it is just as enjoyable. With casinos and amusement parks and shows and spas not to mention one of the most breathtaking images you can imagine, Niagara is astonishing.
The city is built along the Niagara Falls waterfalls and the Niagara Gorge on the Niagara River which flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
Niagara Falls is a contradiction. It is historical and majestic in Fallsview as well as commercial in Clifton Hill and cultural in Queen Street Arts and Culture District. (Oh, and wear comfortable shoes if you are going to be walking around Clifton Hill). At the bottom of that very commercial hill is the Oaks Garden Theater. If you go when the gardens are in bloom you will be very impressed. It is one of the most visited tourist areas in the world. The best way to get around is either the hotel shuttle service (shared) or the Niagara Parks Commission People Mover (also a shuttle bus service).

There are some very interesting places surrounding the spectacular view of the falls. What type of events or activities make the fall a good time to visit Niagara?

For me the weather in the fall (early September) provided just the right temperatures for walking tours around the historical and commercial areas. The colors as you can see of the gardens at this time was spectacular. Additionally, I enjoy visiting when the tourist season is a little off, reducing the crowds (especially at the casinos).

This is a great time of year to visit also. On the Canadian side, they have a "Festival of Lights" thoughout the city. It's pretty amazing! http://www.cliftonhill.com/niagara_falls_events/niagara_festival_of_lights/#1
