A Nicaraguan Diplomat Has Been Found Dead on Thursday

Update: 12:19pm PT:

The man has now been identified as Cesar Antonio Mercado Pavon, 34, and although he was a Nicaraguan Diplomat, it is unclear what his title was when he died. 

A downstairs neighbor reported hearing loud noises and a bang coming from the apartment during the night but did not pay much attention.

Police have not said if they have a suspect or any motive for the killing.

Previous Story From Thursday Morning:

The man was found with this throat cut in his Bronx apartment, but he is not being identified until his family can be notified. 

He was found by his driver when he came to pick him up around 10:30am behind a door at Grand Concourse near E. 180th St.

He was a Nicaraguan Diplomat who was based in the United States. According to the New York Daily News, the man was a counselor to the Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations.
