Nikola Tesla’s [ 9-7-1856 : 7-01-1943 ]. Was it not for Nikola Tesla’s ingenious mind as an inventor and a person whom desired the World to benefit above that of FINANCIAL GREED our World would now be a far different place in which to live. His Alternating Current [ AC ] Motors harness the power in Niagara Falls and serve in many applications Globally along with Power transmissions. The breadth and depth to his imagination didn’t stop there neither given the vast number of Patents registered streaming from it. A true genius and prophet of the Electrical age however a genius whom faced many challenges in providing what we have today against barriers set by others.
Nikola Tesla was born in Croatia, one of five children to Rev.Milutin Tesla and Djouka, his wife. Tesla grew to be very tall and a very slender grey-blue eyed man whom although was left handed became ambidextrous. He easily acquired communicatative foreign language ability and sought particular knowledge from a broad sphere as well as his most important library, that contained in his head through reasoning as to core principles, deeply ingrained through relevance. At the age of 14 [ 1870 ] he demanded a School Director set a new stricter mathematics examination for him to sit having been awarded poor marks by a Professor to which he then acquired an almost perfect mark!. In 1875 at the age of 19 he went to Graumltz in Austria to study electrical Engineering and in the second year questioned the necessity of an arcing commutator in a DC Motor demonstration by a Prof. Poeschl. At the lecture end the Prof stated "Mr. Tesla will accomplish great things, but he certainly never will do this. It would be equivalent to converting a steady pulling force like gravity into rotary effort. It is a perpetual motion scheme, an impossible idea.".
On graduating from the University of Prague he travelled to Budapest and found employment with the Hungarian Government in its Central Telegraph Office which was installing the newly developed telephone that Alexander Graham Bell had invented and by 1881 he became its manager at the age of 25. On redundancy he then joined the Continental Edison Company in Paris employed as a “trouble shooter” travelling both France and Germany.. While working for Edison he noted many improvements as to manufacture and given a 1883 Strasburg Project to remedy Continental Edison promised remuneration if he successfully aided manufacture and completed the said project. The Company dealing in Direct Current [ DC ] showed no interest as to Tesla’s AC theory but while in Strasburg he recalled his 1882 designs to mind subsequently building a working Model of an AC Motor. To this end Tesla decided to demonstrate his AC Model to Wealthy Financiers locally however no interest was shown since they could not understand its WORTH as to future VALUE let alone realise its importance to Science!. His idea then was to return to Paris and on being paid the money owed he would use it to build a full size 3 phase Motor however on return to Continental Edison in Paris Tesla found it impossible to find anyone accountable for payment and so he QUIT!. He was then given a letter of recommendation by the Works Manager to visit Edison personally.
Tesla now ventured to America to visit Edison whom gave him employment but their different philosophy as to DC and AC separated them. For Edison Tesla “sorting out” a Power distribution Problem to which the amazed Edison simple shook his head. Tesla also recognised a need for much improvement as to the dynamos being manufactured and so Edison promised him $50,000 if he could do it. Having achieved the task Tesla asked for payment to which Edison retorted “Tesla, you don’t understand our American humour.”. Tesla then QUIT!. Following this he was asked to design lighting by promoter friends on the basis of a small salary and a promise of shares in the Company. After being presented with the shares
he was them manipulated out of the Company whom questioned his abilities as an Engineer and Inventor!.
From 1886 until 1887 Tesla became a Labourer on starvation wages.
In 1887 with the help of a foreman whom believed in Tesla’s abilities and others the Tesla Electric Company was Established near to Edison’s Company. Edison though had an advantage since he was financed by J P Morgan. Tesla soon realised that benefits to mankind were not about mankind at all but about Finances as to Wealth by others. Tesla quickly converted his ideas into products of Worth producing Single, Two-phase and three-Phase current machines. Six months after Business began Patents were applied for and granted [381,968; 381,969; 381,970; 382,279; 382,280; 382,281 and 382,282 ] with more and more applied for the following year. With so many Patents Tesla’s name became prominent however Tesla was an inventor not a salesman which presented problems. Now George Westinghouse was a man of visions, he himself being an inventor. At a meeting Tesla accepted Westinghouse’s offer of $1 million for his Patents and Tesla suggested $1 per Horse power as Royalty which Westinghouse agreed to also.
A Financial Depression then came along which was forcing Mergers and one in which the Edison Company was merged with Thomas-Houston to form the General Electric Company [ GEC ]. Westinghouse too was being forced into merging with the U.S Electric Company and the Consolidated Electric Light Company to form the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company. The Financiers to Westinghouse were not pleased that Tesla was to receive $1 per Horse Power on $millions in future Sales but as George Westinghouse pointed out to them – such costs where included in production and paid for by customers and not from the Companies earnings. Put bluntly the Financiers insisted that Westinghouse break the deal with Tesla else they would withdraw support in saving the Company!. George Westinghouse had no alternative but to visit Nikola Tesla and appraise him of the situation that Financiers had forced upon him. Although Tesla knew that he had the upper hand he also realised that the fate of the Company lay within his hands and that if the Company didn’t survive the World would not enjoy the benefits of his great invention. They both agreed on that point and so Westinghouse then pledged to Tesla that he would proceed with the original plans of putting the Country on an AC powered System to which both tore up their original Royalty Contract. In a nutshell it cost Tesla some $12,000,000 in unpaid Royalties in deploying his Inventiveness such that all, including greedy Financiers, enjoy the benefits which he offered the World.
In 1886 a prize of $3,000 was offered to harness the power of Niagara Falls. Tesla as a boy had predicted that someday that would be his achievement however submissions where made as to the project. At this time Westinghouse was urged to submit a plan to which Westinghouse replied that these people are trying to get $100,000 worth of information for $3,000!. Lord Kelvin declare himself in favour of DC Motors to be used whereas Westinghouse manufactured as to Tesla’s AC Motors. No prize was given around 1890. In 1893 proposals and bids were then asked for from Westinghouse and GEC to which both proposed AC Units. It was then agreed that Westinghouse provide the Power Plant and GEC the Transmission lines. Today Niagara Falls supplies Electrical Power to NY and Lord Kelvin conceded by saying that "Tesla has contributed more to electrical science than any man up to his time."
In 1895 a Fire broke out in Tesla’s Laboratory in which he lost everything and in having no insurance it made matters even more difficult since associates had helped to finance it and especially now at a time when he was about to demonstrate his Wireless Transmission. Fortunately a Mr Adams came along to rescue Tesla in his time of need – The same Mr Adams which worked for the J P Morgan Group that developed the hydroelectric Station at Niagara Falls. He then arranged for the formation of a New Company which would finance Tesla’s experiments. He offered to subscribe $100,000 of a proposed $500,000 of Capital Stock of the Company. Adams paid $40,000 then spent considerable time observing Tesla. Adams then suggested that his Son become Tesla’s Partner thus forging an alliance between J P Morgan and himself. This Tesla may have though would cure any further financial problems, the tragedy being a blessing in disguise!. Tesla however REJECTED Adams offer and by 1897 he once again began to manufacture his Wireless Transmitter after TWO YEARS of delay.
9th July, 1897 Electrical Review. Nearly every telegraphic inventor has for years dreamed in his waking hours of the possibility of communicating without wires. but it has remained for Mr. Nikola Tesla to advance a theory, and experimentally prove it, that wireless communication is a possibility and by no means a distant possibility. The fundamental patents on Tesla's system were issued on September 2, 1897, just two months after his announcement. They are numbered 645,576 and 649,621.
In 1912 the Titanic hits an Iceberg. A week before sailing J P Morgan cancelled his Berth along with 50 other First Class passengers while the White Star Line also increased the Insurance on the Titanic from $7 Million to $12.5 Million. Its Sister Ship, the Olympic, suffered much damage and even collided at fault with Warship HMS Hawk to which NO Insurance payout was made. There still exists a conspiracy surrounding what may be the largest fraud at the time but given subsequent Video footage of the Wreck showing the letters M and P behind the fading name of the Titanic this only serves to substantiate the basis on which some in the financial Industry survive risk.
In 1938 Tesla was too ill to appear at a Dinner held in the Hotel Biltmore however he did send a written message to the Institute which read: "George Westinghouse was, in my opinion, the only man on this globe who could take my alternating-current system under the circumstances then existing and win the battle against prejudice and money power. He was a pioneer of imposing stature, one of the world's true noblemen of whom America may well be proud and to whom humanity owes an immense debt of gratitude."

Professor, In light of the date I believe you may correct in regard to the burial timing to some degree. Tesla was not found until 01.08.1943 by a house cleaning woman (whom after 3 days ignored a do not disturb sign & entered ) and the medical examiner placed the time of death as 01.07.1943 @ 10:30 pm indicated likely cause as coronary thrombosis (aka heart attack) while a sleep "no suspicious circumstances"
Tesla had over 700 patients within his life span.

Do a Google search on Tesla to find out more on this individual who without him we would not have much of what we take as every day items all around us.
Here is a site on Tesla called the Tesla Timeline
