Chinese officials have executed nine people for crimes committed during ethnic riots between Uighurs and Han Chinese in July of this year in Xinjian province. Eight of the nine men executed were of Uighur ethnicity. The riots have allegedly claimed the lives of 200 people. The riots have been one of the largest ethnic clashes in China in years.

The July 5 violence in western China began after police broke up a demonstration by Uighur students demanding an investigation into a deadly fight at a factory in the southern Chinese city of Shaoguan in which Han workers killed two Uighurs. The Uighur crowd then rampaged through the western city's southern neighborhoods, hunting down Han residents, smashing vehicles and burning Han shops.
Two days after the riot, Han vigilantes stormed into Uighur neighborhoods with clubs, meat cleavers and lead pipes to take revenge.
State media also said Monday that 20 people were indicted on charges in the deaths of 18 people amid the unrest in the northwestern province of Xinjiang.

This is one time I do not agree with China and its right to execute people. China has no harmonious society.... It is all about fear of the State... Either love China...or die by the State. How is China above the Laws of the land? You can not outlaw murder and then have legal executions. There is no such thing as a legal execution. I am ashamed of China..and it's lack of truth in seeking reunification through good acts and leadership...instead of justice hidden in the pretext for revenge. Hu Jin Tao..should be ashamed of himself..
