About 220,000 Griffin's Wii controller accessories, the Psyclone Essencials, and React Wii 4-dock battery recharging stations have been recalled because the battery pack can overheat and pose a burn or fire hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Psyclone says on its website: “We have chosen to voluntarily recall the Psyclone and React Wii 4-Dock Recharge Station products upon learning of extremely isolated cases of the battery overheating, causing the batteries in the unit to short circuit. Even though the number of cases is very small, we are committed to ensuring our customers are completely satisfied with our products.”
There have been six reports of the device overheating, and two people have been burnt. The recalled battery stations, priced at about $50 each, have been sold since January 2008 through July 2009 under React brane name at Best Buy stores, and as Psyclone Essentials at Target, Toys 'R' Us, and Amazon.com.
Consumers are asked to immediately stop using these products. Griffin is offering a free replacement and can be contacted at 888-344-4702, by e-mail at productsafety@psyclonegamer.com or online at www.psyclonegamer.com/Wii4Dock.

There have been many reports of Wii controllers slipping out of hands and smashing TVs and windows. The company is a hot issue today due to the malfunctions occurrence. There’s a Nintendo Wii recall going into effect. It isn't a Nintendo Wii recall of the box and all controllers, with an Xbox 360 red ring of death type of problem – the recall affects the Psyclone Essentials and React Wii controller stations, which are aftermarket components. The recharging station heats up and can cause minor burns to skin and clothing. Wii owners with the Psyclone products are encouraged to unplug the unit and contact the manufacturer. Moreover, they have to fix the nintendo Wii recall problems, so you shouldn't need to spend time and money to fix it.

I suppose the difficulty is that these devices have been sold under different brand names at different stores which makes it more difficult for people to identify whether they actually have one of these Wii controller accessories.
