Ninth human foot washes ashore in the Pacific Northwest
The mystery of the floating foot, which has plague British Columbia's lower mainland and outlying islands since 2007 has resurfaced with a 9th foot which washed ashore on a Washington State's Whidbey Island yesterday. A tourist found the foot along the beach. Investigators believe the human right foot looks to be that of a female or juvenile.
Unlike the previous 8 feet found clad in running shoes, which assisted investigators in trying to trace the origin of the shoe and perhaps the origin of the foot, this foot was not found with a running shoe
Only one (right) foot discovered in August 2007 on the shores of Jedediah Island northeast of Nanaimo (out of the previous eight) was ever positively identified so far. The right shoe was identified as a shoe made in India and linked to a depressed British Columbia man who went missing in 2007.
Previous theories over the floating feet were many, ranging from migrant boat people, criminal organizations disposing of bodies, to persons who drowned. None of these theories have been proven.
Pranksters at one time, monopolizing on the floating feet mystery encased an animal foot inside a running shoe, to be found washed ashore.
The sex of the person whose feet were found was publicized, as was the origin of manufacturer of the shoes, yet for some strange reason the race of the seven of the eight deceased persons who feet have washed ashore have not been made public.
Many believe this omission to be a guarded secret officials prefer to keep for themselves as the mystery continues. Perhaps the feet like many believe were unsuccessful migrants who drowned trying to reach Canada.
So far theories are just that, theories and one of British Columbia's unsolved mysteries.
