NP Rank:
No Difference between Adolf Hitler and Mother Theresa, says NPR
Utter lack of intellect in the USA?
The official stance of the WYPR, a U.S. public radio station generally respected among intellectual and friends of the earth types and one that proclaims it upholds public interests, is that it does not differntiate between those who kill and those who heal.
The WYPR is one of the sponsors of an event where a criminal despot from Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf is speaking on September 29.
When this correspondent called the WYPR president Anthony Brandon to ask why WYPR is among the sponsors of such an event he curtly said, "We don't differentiate between Adolf Hitler and Mother Theresa," adding, "Everyone must be listened to."
The Stevenson University has invited Pakistan's former military despot General Pervez Musharraf at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore September 29 evening to kick off the Baltimore Speakers Series.
General Musharraf had staged a military coup in Pakistan in October 1999 and later styled himself as president through fraudulent elections and is responsible for killing thousands of Baluch people in Pakistan's occupied territory of Baluchistan.
General Musharraf left the presidency in disgrace as he was being impeached by the Pakistani parliament.
His victims included one of the most popular Baluch statesman Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, 79, who was killed extra judicially on the orders of the army general. Musharraf has now been ordered by the Baluchistan High Court to appear in court on October 6-- eight days after he kicks off the Baltimore Speakers Series.
The Saudi royal family is among those protecting General Musharraf.
However, Brandon promised the NPR will be covering the trial of Musharraf in Pakistan.
Texas-sized Baluchistan is in the throes of a bloody war of liberation since Musharraf's days -- the fifth war of liberation since it was illegally annexed by Pakistan at the point of gun on March 27, 1948.. Stateless today, Baluchistan is divided among Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan.

Come on - READ what the man said and ditch your misleading headline. You are trying to make an issue out of nothing... the organizer makes a valid, rational point that the radio station is presenting information rather than censoring it, and letting the listener judge for themselves. Is this a problem?

No criminal dictator should be promoted by any radio station. This is a tragedy.

Musharraf killed Nawab Bugti and Baluchistan was annexed at the point of gun are all well documented.
On record Musharraf said, "Well done boys" for killing Nawab Bugti. On that day he was inaugurating supply of natural gas to Murree in Punjab. The gas came from the Bugti territories hundreds of miles away.
