No Nexus for China: Google
It might be the first of its own kind direct MNC v/s nation fight. Well we can say it is the begining of new age. The sensorship, banning threat and now the postponement of Nexus one just a begining of new age diplomacy.
Latest development from the google front is that they have postponed there nexus launch in China.
Google says it has postponed the launch of two Android based mobile phones in China following a dispute with the government over censorship.
The formal launch was due to take place on Wednesday, a spokesperson said.
The announcement came as the Chinese government said Google and other foreign firms must obey the country's laws and traditions.
Google said last week that it had been targeted in a sophisticated cyber attack thought to originate in China.
The attacks were thought to target the e-mail accounts of human rights activists.
As a result, the company said that it would no longer censor search engine results in China even if it meant it had to shut down operations in the country.
Google had planned to launch two handsets running its Android operating system in cooperation Samsung and Motorola.
"The launch we have been working on with China Unicom has been postponed," said a Google spokesperson.
China Unicom is a network provider in the country.

Good point Sara Star. I think I made reference (in my Google story a few days ago), to the fact that the breach of Google's database may have in fact been the very system used by the government for domestic surveillance and other "war on terror" related functions. In the new Orwellian universe, less privacy equals more privacy.

I believe the family of sci-fi writer Philip K Dick have sued because they claim the names "nexus" and "android" are allusions to his works.
I hear the Nexus is lacking some kind of phone widget.
Verdict: Not a good year for Google so far!
