None Of The Above
Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it say that a individuals finances are the basic requirement for any political office. Yet, today more than in any other time in our history elections are won and lost solely on the bases of monetary strengths. Ideas, concepts, platforms, and solutions all take a so called back seat when a person is running for elected office. This past primary in Florida is testament to the fact that our political system is failing the American public.
American politics today has ushered in a most disconcerting realm of reality. In every corner of the political spectrum candidates are all too consumed with garnishing huge sums of money so so they can maintain their electability. There are hundreds of instances that show how typical campaign contributions have run amok. Last years ruling by the Supreme Court on campaign finance only accelerated the growing need for more massive financing flowing into candidates coffers.
The Florida primary recently just showed how massive influxes of funding does impact elections. When Mit Romney paid millions of dollars for over 13,000 television advertisements that only show cased negativity and yet went on to win the primary is proof enough that money is the most important prerequisite for any candidates electability. It is as though the "fix" was in for Mit Romney. We, the hapless public meanwhile were continually unendated with relentless commercials that only showed how deplorable political campaigns have really become.
All this posturing and political antagonism pitted against each other is now the new norm in our political scene today. The real effectiveness of so much infusion of funding that pays for advertising is again evident with the lowest voter turnout in recent memory here in Florida. Once again the Republicans have proven that they are most concerned with winning than they are about putting forth real authentic solutions to solve the many crisis that hamper millions of Americans from achieving the "American Dream".
When Mit Romney stated recently that poor people in this country already have a safety net. When it is quite obvious this so called net that is supposed to be in place to guard against anyone from falling through and into an abyss of economic deprivation is just an dellusion of grandeur on part of the GOP. So many millions of Americans today have already fallen through that "safety net" that for many they might not ever be able to climb out of.
With the rest of the world teetering on the edge of darkness where at any moment antagonistic attitudes by certain leaders of nations could ignite the fuse for which global confrontation would flare up into a world at war, again. Precarious positions leaders have chosen. But, nowhere are the GOP frontrunner's taking issue with and proposing any ideas or solutions that would defuse the tensions that continue to threaten global peace. Instead they are using their moment in the sun sort of speaking to degrade and criticize each other and even the current President they so shamelessly seek to replace.
In no other time in recent memory has a political process degraded itself, lost all concept of decency and re gated itself in positions where power brokers wield the most influence. Is the main stream media mostly to blame for this evolution to a state of almost total corruption? All across the country major news organizations take it upon themselves to rationalize and validate candidates viability. This is regardless of whether any candidate has complied with Federal Election rules and regulations. When elections are based solely on a persons monetary wealth or connections to those who bestow huge allocations of funds into a particular candidates so called "war chest" the general public losses. This is what is taking place all across America today.
No longer are elected officials especially GOP candidates looking out for the countries best interests. They have instead sought to seek more monetary gains to get elected and to get re-elected. This in itself only give rise to a system of government that is so far removed from the publics best interest. Money and power have corrupted the American Democratic process to a point of almost no return. The American people are left to dwell in a perpetual state of inequality, a broken economic structure, and a system of government that continues to ignore the needs of it's citizens. If the United States has any hope of restoring this nation to that of which our founding fathers envisioned total reform has to happen. To continue to have state and federal officials being bought and paid for, a government of the people and by the people ceases to exist.
When the election process today especially Presidential campaigns which are way to long, continue to waste time and money, and only manage to infuriate the voting public with meaningless rhetoric is evident that reform is urgently needed. When there are a number of Americans who want to serve their country by being a public official are denied simply because of monetary restrictions that are imposed by the media and the already established power brokers the United States will only continue to slide away from a democratic republic and into a realm of reality that endangers the way of live Americas has always known.
