WILMINGTON -- Here are answers to questions you may have about the voting process.

Polls are open until 7:30 PM tonight statewide.

Any voter in line by 7:30 PM has the right to vote.  Polling places will stay open until all voters in line by 7:30 PM have cast their ballots.

North Carolina's primary is open. That means you don't have to be registered as a Democrat to vote in the Democratic primary - the Democratic primary is open to voters registered as a Democrat, Republican, OR Unaffiliated (ie, independent). Unaffiliated and Republican voters should request a Democratic ballot.

Unless you are a first-time voter who registered by mail, you do not need identification to vote in North Carolina. However, it is always best to bring some form of identification, such as a photo ID, current utility bill, or bank statement just in case.

If you are a first-time voter who registered by mail, you should bring a current and valid photo ID or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address where you are registered.
