UPDATE:   A news conference was held about Somer Thompson,  missing since yesterday at 2:45 pm.  A woman has come forward about a car which tried to lure another child about 10 days ago near the same elementary school in which Thompson is a second grader.

From Examiner.com writer Trina Hoaks:  If you have information, please contact Clay County Sheriff's Office at 1-877-277-6911 or call 911.

This girl's name is Somer Renee Thompson. She was last seen near West Gano and Debarry Avenues in Orange Park, Florida. She was wearing a black shirt under a cranberry colored sweat suit with pink stripes running down the arms and legs. She may have had a red bow in hair and a white hat and scarf.

Amber Alert pending issue  for second grader who authorities fear may have been lured

A seven year old child vanished Monday  while on the way home from school.  Somer Renee Thompson,  age 7,  female,  from North Florida,  ran ahead of her sibling and friends,  and was not seen again.

An Amber Alert has not been issued because the investigators do not have a vehicle description but the sheriff says they may be issuing one later Tuesday.

Sheriff Rick Beseler claims this is the longest a child has been missing in his county, Clay County, in 22 years. They are asking the public if anyone has any information about a blue sedan that was seen in the area close to the school within a block from where Somer was last seen about 10 days ago. They say there was 2 Hispanic men and 1 Hispanic woman who were trying to lure a child into the car with them. They would not discuss anything else about that incident though. The Orange Park Police Department handled that incident and a report will go out later today concerning it.

North Florida authorities searching throughout the night have been unable to find any signs of a missing 7-year-old girl who vanished after school.

More than 100 Clay County deputies were searching Monday and Tuesday in Orange Park for Somer Thompson.

The second-grader is a white female, 3-foot-5 and 65 pounds. She had brown hair in a pony tail.

Somer was last seen about 2:45 p.m. Monday heading home from Grove Park Elementary School. She was walking with her sister and some friends, but ran ahead of them.

I just want to say that I pray for the safe return for this child and little Haleigh Cummings as well. I also want to say that with all the bad people out there in the world today, when a group of children cant even be a mile a way from their house and come up missing or even in their own beds it is our responsibility as parents to do what ever we have to and take every  measure we must in order to keep our babies safe! Be strict, be overbearing, dont let your children out of your sight. There is too much meaness in the world to bend a little. Is our childrens safety not more important than anything else! Those parents who think oh he/she will be alright, watch the news. Speaking for myself either me or a very well trusted adult will have a pair of eyes on my children at all times, I love them too much for it to be any other way!
