North Korea begins reassembling nuclear reactor

North Korea has reactivated its Yongbong nuclear reactor as it warned it would on August 26.  Kyodod, the Japanese news agency, confirms that reconstruction began on Monday.

"They've been threatening this move for some time," one U.S. official told Fox. Until now, he said, the threats were seen as just a way for North Korean officials "to express their anger".

Even now, piecing the facility back together is seen as a "symbolic gesture" because so much already has been taken apart, according to Fox. Another U.S. official told Fox that Yongbyon could be back in operation in two to three months.

North Korea decided to reactivate the Soviet era reactor claiming that the U.S. has violated the disarmament-for-aid deal made earlier this year by failing to remove North Korea from its terror-sponsor list. Both the U.S. and Japan have critisized the move.

Tina Kells, I like this story. It's good stuff.

You would think if most of your people were starving you would do something other than sabre rattle.

N.Korea sees the NATO noose developing around Asia, and Russia. We can thank Dick Cheney for the breakdown in talks in N.Korea for his murder go ahead call to Georgia in killing innocent people of Ossetia.
