The North Korean Crisis may be blown out of proportion to get Japan and South Korea to side with the US against China and Russia.

More and more articles from Asia start suggesting that the US is not only using the North Korean crisis, more over, it is blowing it out of proportion and may even be fuelling it.

This in order to create a public fear in Japan and South Korea wish would draw those countries away from new relations they developed over the past decade with China and Russia.

Further, it may get Japan to concede dropping its article 9 of the Japanese constitution wish makes Japan a Pacifist Nation refusing to arm, or use any ABC weapons and to use its armed force for self defence only. This has been a thorn in the past with the US, who would like to see Japan getting involved actively in US wars such as Iraq with Japanese combat units.

Further, some US politician would like to use Japan as a Nuclear Shield against North Korea, the real reason though seems to be to show Russia and China some US muscles of Supper Power, Using Japan and South Korea to get hit in case of a conflict wish would protect the US home land.

This of course sounds great to American that can use North East Asia as there killing field all the wile claiming to be such good Hearted friend.

It does remind one of Henry Kissinger who should have been triad for war crimes rather then given a Nobel price and this along many others for what they did in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Korea, where the aftermath of those crimes still cause civilian to die.

Never the less, May it be Obama, Bush or Nixon The game is the same, with out regards to Human lives nor with global Justice and even less peace in mind.

Peace is allowed only as long as all dance to the tune of the Super powers who demand it to be there way or the high way. Remember G.W. Bush "You are either with us or against us." Well those words are still valid even though not spoken out so readily any longer, as Bush used to do it.

May that be the US, Russia or China, does matters little.

China the old and now new supper power is coming back with a revenge and this is scaring the US and the UK the most, maybe because of past ghost coming back to hunt them.

No country can get ahead nor go its own way with out the blessing of the Supper powers. When ever one strays away, sooner or latter this Nation will be crushed unless it manages to become a supper power it self and starts crushing others such as Japan and German did in WWII and this with the out most brutality. However, they managed to prevail and once crushed fund them self a new niche with in the Supper powers, being the Industry, wish the existing supper powers can not do with out. This allowed Japan and Germany to enjoy two generations of peace and they realized once again that wars where not in the best interest of any one; as Bismarck used to preach in 1868 trying to get all European Nations to stop fighting with each other, well that was a mixed success as we all know.

The games of the Supper Powers and their closed allies the delusional supper powers. Those that do not yet believe to be just expandable Chess figures and still think of them self as supper powers such as the UK, France and Iran.

Or Canada’s Steven Harper, declaring in an address in 2007 that Canada due to its resources is a Supper power and should be dealt with accordingly.

The supper powers games, is what has and still is hindering World peace and human rights for all Humans on earth. Their only objective being to remain in the upper 10% of privileged, living on the back of the remaining 90% of people and Nations of this globe; and this can only be maintained by having at least two supper powers, creating a divide and maintaining a state of fear and hate between fractions.

Those supper powers have created monsters such as Al-Quaida to stop the other Supper power from getting ahead, or gaining control. That this would eventually back fire was evident, yet even once it did so in 911, it was used again to justify the Iraq war. Moreover, this regardless of how cooperative the Iraqi regime was with the UN at the time trying to prove desperately that it had no weapons of mass destruction nor any means or intentions to get those. They were still attacked and destroyed.

Any opposition to those supper powers is labelled anti American or pro Russian, fuelling yet again the propaganda machine and distracting from the reality so that the masses may not see the malice used by those supper powers and this to a point that even its own subjects the American or Chinese people believe readily in this. Letting them self be brain washed so they may not have to think nor burden them self with a conscience.

Obama was the hope for many around the Globe that this game would change and finally even stop. However, he just proved with the North Korean crisis and the way he uses it and fuels it. That as long as any supper power remains with any bit of control, they will be no hope what so ever for justice, equality, and even less for Liberty, for all Humans on this Earth. The few that still had some hope left for those ideals to become a Global reality, Obama just proved that he is not going to be any different then his predecessors in the Imperialist saga of the US.

It is saddening to see that Humanity has evolved so little since its beginnings and has learned even less since then.

Of course, many will argue, in the US, Russia and China that they do so much good for all others in poor Africa and elsewhere. This with NGO, and development aid, wish is less then 1% of their GNP and there for a joke. However, it makes them feel good with their bad conscience and lets them justify their oppression and exploitation, since they give 1%. Making this rather well known as well, with great publicity and propaganda, all the wile sweeping under the carpet with even greater effort all the bad things they do to maintain their power and all the injustices they cause in the process.

The EU is not forgotten here either. However, they have no interest in using Japan and South Korea as shields and pretext, nor as expandable sacrifice should push, come to shove.

I suppose it's possible that the US creates fear like this, I'm just not sure what I believe, but interesting opinion piece.

Here's an interesting story I read today by the Associated Press from South Korea.

Thank you for the link Amy, it is a very interesting article in deed. I appreciate it.

I disagree with much of your post, I also read the linked articles including the one noted by Amy. You state, " More and more articles from Asia" but without giving the reader any links to actual sources. I read a fair amount of articles from our part of the world, especially those associated with North Korea, but I don't know many which you are referring to?
You go on to state, that the U.S. is fueling the North Korean crisis because it wants to instill fear in the citizens of South Korea and Japan, to turn those countries against China and Russia, and so that Japan will change it's Constitution to enable it have both a military and atomic weapons. You also state, "see Japan getting involved actively in US wars such as Iraq with Japanese combat units."
In comment to that part of your post. The crisis in North Korea is not a recent event and has existed for over 50 years. It's not the making by President Obama. The crisis in North Korea is created entirely by itself. They, North Korea have refused to end the war which it could have done decades ago. North Korea is also a big problem for China too! and in recent months China seems to have less influence over the North Korean leadership than previously. In an unusual move, China backed the most recent sanctions imposed by the U.N. I think China would prefer not to have the North Korean problem too!
I can't speak about South Korea because I don't live there and have only visited once, but I am a long time resident of Japan and I can state that I see no fear in the people about the situation in North Korea except when they test nukes or missiles and then quite naturally some concerns do arise. North Korea does not come up often in my conversations with people. Nearly all have much more fear about the current financial crisis and that is the number one Japanese concern. With some recent good news, may be that negative tide is beginning to turn.
As I have stated in previous comments on your posts, no American troops would want to fight alongside Japanese ones because the country has been at peace for over 50 years and they lack any battle field experience. The American troops are happy to fight alongside their British counterparts because they have so much battle field experience. There would also be a very major problem with language exchange between American and Japanese troops. I suppose there could be a role for Japanese troops in the medical field, so I think America is happy to keep any Japanese troops out of conflicts, and have Japan make a financial contribution.
From next month, July, the American troops in Iraq will be in "lockdown" and confined to their barracks and will require the permission of the Iraq government to carry out any further military ops.
There have been atomic weapons in Japan since the end of World War 2, most American ships and subs carry them but I think it operates on a sort of "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
It would not be in the business interest of America to turn Japan and South Korea against China and to a lesser extend against Russia. Although of cause, Russia is also part of this part of the world, such a vast country and so many time zones, but their role is less important than that of China or Japan. Since China is holding a very large amount of America's vast foreign debt, and President Obama would like China to increase the amount so that he can fund his restructuring of America. America is very locked in with China and that will remain so for many more years to come.
The problem for the region is what to do with North Korea. No one wants it! The Chinese don't want it, Japan certainly does not want it, and although it has been a long time dream of south Korea to see a united Korea, I think many have started to realise, that a united Korea would bankrupt South Korea. We only have to look at united Germany to see the cost and problems of that. Germany is a much more rich country than South Korea. I think South Koreans would like to see a stable situation in the north, and open borders so that they can visit their long lost families.
In a recent statement by Russia, they are willing to give up all atomic weapons if America would do the same.
You state, "some US politician would like to use Japan as a Nuclear Shield against North Korea" but without stating who those "some U.S. politicians are?" These same politicians would use Japan as a killing field so to prevent any attacks on mainland America. I'm not sure where you dig this kind of stuff up from but I consider it to be a most wild statement.
Henry Kissinger is a war criminal, and should be tried and probably executed, I'm not sure about that one! You also state, that it does not matter whether it's President Obama, Bush or Nixon, the game remains the same. Have you already forgotten that President Obama was one of the few to vote against a war in Iraq? I believe President Obama is an anti-war President and will do his best to avoid one during his term in office.
While, at least judging from your post, you have already lost faith in President Obama I still have faith that he'll try to do the right stuff not only for America but for the entire world, but it must be remembered that he's swimming against a very strong tide and so many would like to see him fail!
You have some weird tags in your list?

Thank you for the comment Zichi, The problem is that In two weeks you may say exactly the opposite on another post from what you state today.

again its not understanding the culture of North Korea, where face is important. north Korea needs to sit at a table with an equal face as all others around the table. If people talk down to them as if they have a greater power they will never get to base one on any agreement. The problem is due to this lose face attitude the Korean threat is very real and they will do what they say they will do.

Its just like standing on eggs.

I think you are overlooking some thing here Babel-Fish.  Since I assume you are talking about the post.

I do not disagree with your statement, however, the question is not if the threat may be real or not, the question is why has it not been defused and why is it being fuelled by US Marines entering NK Naval space and Air Space.

It is wanting to provoke a crisis not trying to avoid one. I think the US may hope that NK will strike.... This is what is is all about. No one in the US is interested in defusing this, rather the opposite is happening.

Should NK, be so stupid as to actually lunch a War head missile to SK or Japan or the US (Hawaii) it is what the US need so they may strike with full force and regain control of East Asia.

Is the poster you uploaded here for real?

When it was used ? during Bush era or previously during world war times?!!

unbelievable.

I hope US has better handle on things now. After the pro-longed detention talk from Mr. Obama, I am really don't know what to expect from US anymore.

The provoking is done to give legitimacy to their nuclear stock-piles. The US will not consider that their arms upgrading, their military is what causes terror and violence in the world. Other countries want protection from that threat. That is why other countries acquired the Atomic Bomb....

If you look closely you will notice that none of the countries that have nuclear weapons have never had all out wars with the US....except now North Korea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons...

I think the US is adrift in its Military Establishment...It constantly needs threats to justify its existence. Without threats the Military is nothing but a heavy dead weight sucking life out of a real economy.

The US needs to evaluate its real existence and authority for the need of Atomic Weapontry itself.  Where is its real strength? How do they stop the hypocrisy they represent to the World? You can't have nuclear weapons, but we can...just holds no creditability.

The US is suppose to lead by example....So they have atomic weapontry...other countries want that too. If the US decided to change that by seeking an elimination of its nuclear program...I believe other countries would too.

To be clear the US is the Monster..every nation in the world fears to engage..because the US has the Atomic Sword.

If the US buried its sword... the fear in the world would end. and Americans would be most miserable because now they are not self righteous important individuals any longer. US Presidents would have no more real power...

But that is the psychological mindset that Americans fear.. The US needs to end its fear policy in the world. We are intelligent to know that the world is divided into two camps....the Pro War or Violent way, or Anti War- Nonviolent way.

The US presently is a pro-war nation......so expect more War. This is why Democracy is so unstable, unrefined, and an absolute failure in the World...

It is clear Harry Truman considered using the Atomic Bomb on N. Korea, but did not..I think the reason the US has not is because of China...and the fallout to S. Korea. More people would be killed from using the Atomic Bomb in N. Korea than simply N. Koreans.

Here is a scenario: The US boards a N. Korean ship, and seizes it. The North responds by artillary into S. Korea.. The violence escalates.....The US drops mini atomic bombs on N. Korea...North Korea nukes S. Korea... More nulcear bombs are exchanged....leaving the entire Korean Pennisula in devastation.. Radiation affects China, and Japan.

The area would need to be quarantined for years...and the US would have no footing in Asia or door to China.

My sense is that N. Korea will have the bomb...at  the US objections and its ability to get other countries to condemn N. Korea. Nothing will happen. The same sanction threats will go on and on..... just like the Israeli and Palestinian war.

There can be no peace until the US reduces and dismantles its own military establishment. Don't expect other countries to cooperate with the US. The US is unable to win the hearts and minds of the people....unless those people are hypocrites as well.

Rev.

This is a great post and I agree with it.

North Korea spent  an estimated $700 million on nuke and missile testing, enough to feed its people for 2 years!

In my opinion it still is incorrect to interfere with a country's internal and external approach to the  outside world. The US thinks still they are the only world power that gives them the right to interfere whenever and wherever they like, but counting their numbers, their world power aspirations - like the Roman and British empires before - soon will come to an end. Sorry, but numbers don't lie. If N. Korea prefers famine for their people above nuclear weapons, there is little that any outsider can change, unless their own people come into rebellion against this. Only China could interfere, and probably wisely stays out for as long as possible. But wisdom is not well developed in US Administration as we know from Iraq, Vietnam, etc. At least this is good post followed by a good discussion, that makes this post even better.
