A passenger on a flight from Detroit to Amsterdam reportedly set off several firecrackers on the plane as it landed in the Detroit. Some minor injuries were reported after the Christmas Day on the Delta Airlines flight, which was operated by Northwest Airlines.

Few details have emerged, although one source says the FBI  arrived on scene to investigate reports of thwarted hijacking attempt aboard a plane. All passengers are off the Delta plane, an Airbus A330. It remains to be seen if the Northwest Flight 253 incident was indeed an attempted hijacking, terrorist attack, or simply an act of mischief.

According to reports from the FAA and Delta, an emergency was declared aboard the flight and the man who set off the firecrackers was immediately subdued.
