Norway votes - Norwegian Parliamentary Election 2009
September 14. 2009 - Election Day for the Kingdom of Norway.
It seems that the Norwegian Labour Party and the Red-Green parliament is winning the ´09 Election. Alongside with the Norwegian Labour Party - it is likely that Socialistic Left Party and the Central Party is forming the parliament.
The Norwegian system is ruled by mandates. Norway is divided into 19 counties and over 430 municipalities. The amount of percentage of votes then is responsible for the amount of mandates each party sends to the parliament. Currently 00.25 , sep. 14 local time - 86 versus 83 mandates.
The political system in Norway is divided into two groups the Red-Green and the opposition. Each side is mainly divided into four (4) parties.
The Red-Green´s are mainly , The Labour Party, The Socialistic Left Party, The Central Party and Red Party.
The opposition consist of; The Progress Party, The Right Party and the Left Party.
We also have some third party candidates which consist of, The People´s Christian Party and the Left Party. - If the third parties were to form parliament, The People´s Christian Party, The Right Party and the Left Party were to work together.
It is clearly very different from the American system of two parties.
Our two most conflicting parties are the Socialistic Left and the Progress Party. Their idealistic views upon politics are so heavily conflicting that there have been hard duels during debates. The Progress Party have their ideology based upon liberalism and libertarians- one of their foremost idols is Ronald Reagan.
It is the first election I have had the opportunity to vote in, and I have voted liberal.
Surely the debate which the European Union is discussed will come. There have been two plebiscites before; the first one in 1972.
Both have resulted in negative votes to the European Union. These days another question have arisen. The question about the new Directory of Computer Storage- granting the KRIPOS - Department of justice to storage all data transfer between people for more than two years. Including SMS, MSN and Phone calls.
This directory have been heavily criticized as a tramp on the personal privacy.
More comments upon the 2009 Election might come. I´m done for now.
