Norwegian NGO Head Deported!!!

May 30, 2009

Ranvei Tvetenes, the Head of Norwegian NGO FORUT was deported on night of Saturday 29th May, 2009 (yesterday), for her involvement with the LTTE and indulging in activities inimical to the sovereignty and independence of Sri Lanka, says defense sources.

It appears that Ranvei who was a law unto herself had ordered the removal of the national flag of Sri Lanka that was hoistedby the  local staff commemorating the historic victory of the Sri Lankan forces on the 20th of May 2009. It was further revealed that she refused to grant the holiday declared by the President on the occasion. The staff however stood firm and demanded the holiday and with great reluctance she was compelled to submit to their demand.

Is this somebody who is hurt that Prabhakaran is dead or just cannot fathom the loss of a dream of her country? When the news of the fall of Kilinochchi was given to her, she is supposed to have chided the bearer of the news and has been in a very bad mood for a couple of days.

Is this an indication of what the Norwegians think about the present situation in Sri Lanka? We find Solheim talking to terrorists like Pathmanathan without even attempting to call the Interpol on him. Now, we have a situation where Norwegians exercise authority over a sovereign Government.

It is also now understood that Tventenes, through her organization had carried out unwarranted deeds and the NGO is under investigation now.

Source .lk? They dare to have a slogan "Truth First" on their site? But what can they do. They must publish all lies of the government to stay alive.

Colombo, 22nd May 2009:  FORUT Sri Lanka today refuted allegations that the head of the organization   had acted in manner that was disrespectful to the Sri Lankan National flag, as announced in the local media today.

“We deny the allegations made in the Sri Lankan print & electronic news media, claiming that I had ordered the removal of the Sri Lankan National flag which had been hoisted in our premises, on Tuesday, the 19th of this month. We at FORUT believe that a National flag should always be hoisted after sunrise and taken down before sunset, as it is disrespectful to keep a National flag hoisted after darkness falls, hence the flag was removed” says Ranveig Tveitnes, Resident Representative - FORUT Sri Lanka.

“Our training manuals which are widely used as a training tool among child clubs and pre-schools at community level, and  the Samurdhi Authority, elaborates on the use of the National flag, which we believe should be adhered to by our own organization” Ranveig further stated.

FORUT Sri Lanka is a Swedish and Norwegian based International Non Governmental Organization.  FORUT works in collaboration with government ministries, local government bodies, and community based organizations at grassroots level and is also active in the areas of early childhood care & development and economic empowerment.  FORUT is currently actively supporting the relief measures in the North, which has seen an influx of thousand of IDP’s in the recent past.

Well there we go again Propaganda answered with the sweetness of golden truth.

"We at FORUT believe that a National flag should always be hoisted after sunrise and taken down before sunset, as it is disrespectful to keep a National flag hoisted after darkness falls, hence the flag was removed"

But the question is, has she hoisted it up again the next morning? She's not mentioning anything about putting it up again. Not that I care. But the staff wouldn't have complained for no reason, I'm sure.

FORUT seems a friendly voice to the LTTE via TamilNet, going back even further than 2006.  FORUT's, Norway's and many of these NGOs' one-eyed rhetoric serves only one purpose - continue to criticise a democratically elected government and its people, in favour of a terrorist force.  If their intentions were pure, they would serve who they are meant to serve, silently or at least report on what they believe to be misdeeds on both sides.  FORUT's voice, like many of the NGOs', remain silent on the war crimes, carnage and genocide inflicted by the LTTE.

I really can not see any proof of that, please give your source?

Yes. FORUT was quick to deny the allegations.  I stand by the story.

So, how does one think a person is deported from a country? Just go up to the person and say, "You are deported", and that's it?  No, there is a longer procedure.

At the time of Sri Lankan authorities talking to Tventenes, she could have explained everything. This did not happen. However, everybody including the Tamil Terrorist supporters, especially those abroad jump in the bandwagon, to save face of a country which has been backing the Tamil Terrorist parasites in Sri Lanka.

And for the ignorant few, Prabhakaran, the leech is dead!!

More than that you should take care of Sri Lankan citizen  who live there and still act against the state.

The enemy within is million times dangerous than the enemy from outside of the country. I am NOT talking about the LTTE supporters here..!

You know who..!!!

"Yes. FORUT was quick to deny the allegations"  They certainly would be if they are not guilty.

If they were guilty too, right?

I am coming to a conclusion that both the LTTE and the Sri Lankan Government have been as evil as each other when it comes to propaganda.

I am getting very disturbed now that the media has been  suppressed at a time when there is no real need to. What is really happening as I can not also believe the supporters of the LTTE. When foreign charity and NGO's are challenged it makes me think there really is some thing wrong.  Do I see racial hatred creeping into these threads?

I can not see a Norwegian organization backing terrorism but I can see one that has leaked out the truth being accused of such offense.

I have never seen so much propaganda banded about its crazy.

Babel-Fish,

The work of FORUT is not doubted at any time. I understand your feelings.

Thoughts and actions of one individual will not  hinder the good work of FORUT. However, the culprit/s of any wrongdoing must be dealt with. We must understand that this type of action will tarnish the image of the NGO.

I am writing from Colombo and would not put something on paper without a little bit of research.  I have spoken to people from both sides (Govt and opposition) and I am sorry to state that I still standby my story.

If this lady was deported without an inquiry and without giving her a chance to refute the allegation/s, it is wrong. But, as I understand, the necessary procedures were followed before this lady was given marching orders.

As for Solheim, you will realize on research,  is a different 'kettle of fish'. If you think I'm wrong, please check the one of LTTE's media arms, the Tamilnet, and you will see.

Thanks for the comment.

I do not think that these people so humane that they want to help Sri Lankan. I am now in europe, so I know how they think and they act. They talk about human rights but they are the human right breachers.

These NGOs people are just doing a job. In their home countries they are perhaps jobless. So they come to Sri Lanka an spend a luxurious life, as every thing is cheap, food, accomodation..etc.

First part of their programme once they are in SL is to build up a local network.  Then they offer them training and tour foreign countries. Once local are in the system, they do not want to give up privillages, even if their activities are deterimental to the country. Even local law enforcemtn agencies do want to bring them before the court, it is difficult, as the agents(foreigner) make huge hue and cry that human rights are violated.

This is the way they function.

We must not allow these people to come to Sri Lanka as they want. We must stop them. We have put them in jail first, them deport. We should not allow these people to talk about human rights. They should not talk about safety of Sri Lankan civilians. It is upto sir Lanka to protect civilians. Sri Lankan government is feeding these people upto now, not foreigners. Foreigners are not our masters.

Even if Tamils abroad want these NGOs to go to Sri Lanka, we should not allow them to come to SL. Then tamils would realize, that they can not intimidate Sri Lanka and sinhalese. Mahinda Rajapakse did this, the right thing. I do not know why Sri Lankan side with these foreigners try to blame, harm sri Lanka. They are criminals in the first place. We have to get rid of this mentality. They are not civilized world, as they say. Tamils can not get anything thorugh foreigners. Sri Lanka does not allow it. You have understood this at last !!!!

I am very sure that these people collarbrated with LTTE, bring arms and explosives, terrorists concealing in their verhicles. But they would deny. But Sri Lanka are not fools. They have almost 30 year experience. So if they something it is true.

One thing: once they are deported, they should be never allowed to come to SL.

As now LTTE is finished, they would never raise their heads. If they try, they will be wiped out. Now Sri Lanka guarantee its security.

For me sometimes everthing is a joke. Prabhakrans father comes form Malaysia, came to Sri Lanka in 1947. So phrabhakran is foreigner. I do not know why he fight for a independent homeland. He must do it in Malaysia. It does not matter: Phrabhakarn is gone.

I think NGOs should still come to Sri Lanka.

The only thing wrong the GOSL is doing is not having strict control over the activities of the NGOs

Take Bangladesh for instance. After the Tsunami in 2004, many NGO's went to that country and made many mistakes including underspending the monies brought in so that they could be siphoned back for themselves.

Bangladesh instituted a NGO Monitoring Authority. Today, this Authority works with extreme efficiency. In BD, NGO staff cannot even go over 20 miles away from their base stations without permission from the NGO Monitoring Authority.

There are good and genuine NGOs. But then there are rogues too,

I have uploaded a scanned copy of a LTTE Terrorist letter to the NGOs. Read it and enjoy.

Wow, I read it. incredible. Thanks !

People should come out of the mentality of trying to compare the lunatics of LTTE with a government that did what they had to do to protect a country.

It is sad that not many can understand whatever propaganda put up by the Govt was put in place because there was no other way to counter LTTE propaganda. Not many seem to understand how vicious, how advanced and what a web of lies LTTE propaganda is. Military power is no more for LTTE, but the Propaganda lies are still on ! Understand this first.

You all know sri lanka following china and Rusia and what else you expect from this gov if you speak you get deport or beaten and killed

"Celebration over innocent Tamils Massacre ..."

That'a very hatefully unkind statement.

Correction: Celebration over end of most ruthless heinous terrorist and his terrorism, that caused so much chaos and grief to all Sri Lankans. Celebrations over end of war. Celebrations over beginning of living in peaceful harmony.

During its decades old terror campaign against Sri Lankan citizens, the late LTTE killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians in village massacres, bus bombings, train bombings, suicide bombings, mosque massacres, temple massacres, etc. The late terror outfit is responsible for the misery of the people in the North.

Any wonder why Sri Lanka celebrated?

Jam Bottle? I'm sure you wrote this while having breakfast in some foreign land.

Wonder why there is no Tamil diaspora in China?

Blood money? Who is saying this? Pathmanathan?
