Obama Oslo 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

After a series of cancellations, Norwegian's are beginning to sense that they may be being snubbed by United States President Barack Obama.

The White House has canceled many of the events peace prize laureates traditionally submit to, including a dinner with the Norwegian Nobel committee, a press conference, a television interview, appearances at a children's event promoting peace and a music concert, as well as a visit to an exhibition in his honor at the Nobel peace centre.

After much critisism towards the Nobel Peace Prize judges for their, some might say, short sighted election of Obama for his efforts in dealing with the war that he was thrown into- he has the odasity to cancel out on a good share of the public appearances that go along with the title.

Yes, he's the President of United States and sure he is a busy man.  However, if I were given the Nobel Peace Prize it wouldn't matter if I were the President of the United States or a homeless guy sleeping under a bridge, I would do my damnest to show my utmost repects to the Norwegian people and the Nobel peace prize authorities...

The worst of all the cancellations was the declination of the lunch with the King of Norway.  Good way to give a big ol' moon to the King, there Barack...

Just over a week after announcing an increase in U.S. troop strength for the war in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama is in Norway on Thursday to pick up his Nobel Peace Prize.

At the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, Obama signed a guest book with a passage that gave thanks and he singled out 1964 winner, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.Obama said the prize boosted King's stature and had a "galvanizing effect" on his civil rights movement.

At a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, Obama was asked about suggestions that his winning of the prize may have been premature.

"I have no doubt that there are others who may be more deserving," Obama said.

"My task here is to continue on the path that I believe is not only important for America but important for lasting peace and security in the world."

Obama was to receive his prize later in the day. His acceptance speech was expected to touch on war and security.

This will also be the first time that there are anti-Obama demonstrations in Europe.

A suggestion I heard last night is that Obama should have accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of America for its role during World War II.

Apparent the Nobel Prize Committee said this prize was being awarded for aspirations.

With soooooo many people around the world, and here in the U.S. who truly deserve and have worked very hard for peace, and to help others, giving this -not honor for now- to this man is a joke. There are too many people worth of the prize, but, now we know it is NOT what it used to be. Luther King did DO work to deserve the recognition. Obama is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far from deserving it -he has done NOTHING.

If a conservative libertarian group gave him an award for advancing the cause of free enterprise and freedom,

Obama is not entitled to receive anything as he is a president who has done nothing but make empty speeches and advance the Marxist idiology. He does not understand that peace is maintained through having the biggest guns and not having to use them!

What the whole US has forgotten is according to the Constitution of the United States, a sitting President is not allowed to receive a title from another Country, King or Leader of another Country. Yeap, he violated our First Amendment of our Constitution.   He either does not know the very Constitution he swore to up hold, or he does not think it applies to him. The Very first one. Then he blows off the King...  LOL What a Noble Peace Prize winner for his What?
