President elect Barack Obama made a historic trip by rail on a pre Inaugaural Whistle Stop tour, 3 days before the Inauguration
The second major stop along the tour was in Wilmington Delaware. There he picked up former Senator Joe Biden and his wife to continue this trip down to Baltimore, and eventually to Washington DC
Thousands of Americans including myself stood in bitter subfreezing temperatures hoping to get a glimpse of the new President.
He spoke briefly of Vice President elect Joe Biden's accomplishments in Delaware, and his many years of faithful service there.
He also touched on his own personal journey from the Illinois State Capitol to this pre inaugaural Whistle Stop Tour, and assured the crowd he was grateful and thankful for their support.
Towards the end of his speech, he and his immediate entourage, including Michelle Obama, Joe Biden and his wife, stepped into the crowd to personally shake hands with well wishing supporters.
I'm honored to have been a part of this historic event, and stood within 100 feet of the podium , for some spectacular images I photoshot. I will treasure these images of this nostalgic trip into the Future, for many years to come

Believe me we were watching! I caught the footage of him at the tomb of the unknown soldier this morning and that was powerful. To see the next President solomnly conteplating the use of military force and the lives that are torn apart by it, and to know he as an understanding of the moral burden of such acts.
Congratulations on getting to see him and thanks for reporting on it! I almost went to see him while he was campaigning here, but didn't go.
P.S. Great photo!!!

Grinning ear to ear.... I kinda noticed that when I first downloaded the image from the camera, and knew there was 'something' about them in the background, and didn't pay it much mind.
Now that you mention it again.... I can see the irony in this image with your observation of the photogs in the background being a small part of the bigger Original picture . Great Eye Caj1 !! And thanx again for the compliment ; )
