We are assuming as true the pilots story by the CEO of Delta.  The NWA pilot's story assumes the 300 bonus miles plus almost 8o minutes of non ground contact was do to laptop use and a heated discussion. When was the last time you lost track of 80 minutes and 300 miles do to the use of your laptop?

"The best way that I can describe the incident to you is we don't operate our airplanes that way," Delta Chief Executive Richard Anderson said in a recorded message to employees on Thursday. "We operate professionally, we follow our standard operating procedures ..."

Anderson added that it was a "clear violation of our rules to have laptops open in a cockpit," and said the incident was an "anomaly."

Are we to think the pilots are admitting laptop violation only as a ploy to end the investigations and leave us forever without closure. This would merely leave this case as a mystery without conclusive facts leading to its closure. The proof as to the cause of flight 188's enormous distraction, 300 round trip bonus miles; and the nearly 80 minutes of non ground contact thus forever leaving us with a mystery?
