New York Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Andrew Cuomo Re-energizes Marriage Equality Fight in the Empire State
Cuomo out to remake New York

After same-sex marriage lost in the New York Senate last year  -  by a surprisingly wide margin  -   advocates have been fighting to advance marriage equality in the state by reaching out to the public, raising funds,  and  fielding senate candidates.

Now comes a burst of fresh energy from Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo who in his battle cry online campaign kick-off announcement chose marriage equality as one of the select issues of his candidacy bringing hope to civil rights proponents across the state and nationally.

In the announcement Cuomo decries the delinquency of Albany,  and pledges to straighten out the mess and rectify the Senate floundering on the issue.

Cuomo,  whose "can do" attitude Huffington Post likens to his father, former NY Governor Marrio Cuomo,  has pledged to join words with action and hard work for Marriage Equality in the Empire State.  Critics accuse him of being "an insider" due to his father's influence,  and stand in opposition to marriage equality as well.

Cuomo is good for something, at least.

Thanks for this and for the link back, Susan. Let's hope this, too, is not a ploy to 'court the gay vote'.

Yes,  I hope not.  If Cuomo is playing that game,  they will be furious,  and he will lose them in the end...:  (
