The 2010 New York St. Patrick's Day Parade is underway. Thousands will take to the streets to enjoy a little craic and, of course, not engage in public drinking.
The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade has been held since 1762 and has grown into the largest and most famous St. Patrick's Day Parade in the US.
For those of you stuck in the office, you can watch 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade Live online streaming thanks to NBC New York.
NY St. Patrick's Day Parade Route 2010
The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade route starts at 44th Street at 11 am. It moves its way up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street and the American Irish Historical Society at 83rd. It moves on toward the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 83rd Street to its finishing point 86th Street.
This year's NY St. Patrick's Day Parade features Police Commissioner Ray Kelly as the grand marshal. The "Fighting 69th," a New York National Guard unit also took part. New York Governor David Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg attended Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral before the start of the parade at 11 a.m.
