NYPD Officer Trent Young Pleads Guilty to Sex with 3 Minors

Former NYPD officer Trent Young plead guilty of all charges relating to the transportation of minors across state lines for the purpose of sex and statutory rape in a series of incidents involving three girls under his supervision.  The three unnamed girls were students of Trent Young at his Iron Tiger Martial Arts school in Middleton New Jersey.  The first incident occurred in April, 2003 with the last happening in December 2006.

Trent Young stated that on separate occasions he transported the three girls, ages 14, 14 and 16 at the time, from the Iron Tiger Martial Arts studio to his home in New York state for the purpose of having sex with them.  He also admitted that once at his home he did have sex with each of the three girls.  The age of consent in New York state is 17; it is 16 in New Jersey.  Regardless of the age of consent in the girl's home state, transporting a minor over state line with the intent of engaging in sexual intercourse is a crime.

Changes to the penalties required under law between 2003 and 2006 mean Young will get a lighter sentence for the first case than for the second two.  Trent Young faces a maximum of 30 years and a minimum of 5 for the 2003 incident.  Young faces a maximum of life in prison and a minimum of 10 years in prison for the 2006 cases.  There is no word on whether or not Trent Young reached a deal with prosecutors to get the lightest possible sentence, or if he will be allowed to serve his sentences concurrently.
