The 69 million peso question

Money, the root of all evil

Let me tell you a tale of greed and corruption. This is a story of a televangelist who managed to take control of church properties worth 69 million pesos from previous church. These properties when registered then to his previous church but when he started a new church he managed to get these properties registered to his name. In between registrations 63 millions pesos worth of properties cannot be accounted for. The year was 1993. By 2000, this self-proclaimed "the only sensible preacher today", the properties of the church as down to a measly 55 thousand pesos. When his chief security found out about this, he confronted the leader. The "sensible preacher" had no sensible explanation which prompted the chief security to call a press conference and divulge this obvious corruption.

Many members were disappointed, disgruntled and dismayed by the preachers embezzlement of church monies which prompted them to leave the church. The "sensible preacher", afraid that he would lose all the members of his church, was forced to explain himself and the loss of church properties. He read a letter, supposedly written by him, promising to transfer the ownership of church properties to the church.

Admitted violating church rules

With this obvious blunder, he effectively admitted having taken ownership of church properties, thus admitted to violating Article IV, Section 1 of the Articles of Incorporation of his church which states that all church properties must be in the name of the church. Unknown to members of his church, hectares of land that was supposed to be in the name of the church are now in the name of the "sensible preacher".

Swimming in money

Rotten Vegetables in the garbage

In 2001, this preacher attempted to mortgage the only convention center the church had and used for its thanksgiving. The building was appraised at almost 335 million pesos. The center had an annual sales income of more than 1 billion pesos. Why a church building would have sales income could only be because it is also used for business. It is widely known that food vendors abound inside the only church property that is dedicated for "worship".

If one would add the sum of money donated by its poor members from 1980 to 2005, this would add another 1 billion pesos to the coffer of the church, not counting the yearly, mid-year and quarterly special contributions of poor members. This building is registered under his name, not the church.

In addition to this income which would make the Ayala's green with envy, the "sensible preacher" owns a myriad of businesses, including:

  • an animal farm, apartments
  • drinking water
  • poultry and piggery feed supply
  • Photo and Video processing
  • fastfood restaurant and lumpia factory (remember the lumpia made from discarded vegetables)
  • auto supply store
  • a beach resort
  • gas stations
  • fish farming ponds
  • and many others.

With all this wealth, one would think this church, headed by "the only sensible preacher of our time" would have at least one descent place to perform their kind of worship. Not one has been built since its inception. Where does all the monies go?

I recommend this because it is true that if the reports all hold water, but I expect they do.

It would seem he was the guy that could only read the religions accounts books and know its worth and of course see that god wanted the church to invest in him it of course to show gods charity.

Unfortunately there are many others walking the path of this preacher and religion has been seen as good business in this impoverished nation. Cruel greedy con men have used the educational problem of elementary and high school drop outs (due to the cost of education) and its generally these poor souls that are conned by their snake oil.

Babel-Fish,

How do you assess information? Don't you consider first the source?

The quality of information you get depends on your kind of communicator

If he has credibility, go believe him and what he says.

If not, you know what to do.

Why do you want to lean the art of research, analysis  and logic opinion?

I certainly keep an open mind even after offering an opinion at the moment it would seem that truthcasters article checks out okay. but that does not mean I believe him or you for that matter.

Do you realize its arrogant to comment in a debate and question the analytic skills of someone that has a differing opinion than your own? are you trying to say your the expert in such matters if so that's very arrogant indeed..But I will have to respect that's may not be the case and say I am sorry I miss-understood your objective of your comment. But really it seems that was the aim.

Attack the message and not the messenger please as that's the decent approach to good debate any other shows a lack of respect and intelligence. You respect my opinions you will get that respect back.

also add the advice.

Don't ever trust the middle men they are after your money, pray direct and you will be richer for it.

All these religions have three things in common

1. They want money

2. They want power over you and your family to get your money

3. They want your children to pay them money later in life.

Second piece of advice.

Buy a holy book read it thoroughly, learn about your religion you do not need others to preach to you and they normally adapt the words in the Bible to suit there form of religion to keep you attracted to their religion alone. It's all to do with money just look at the preachers car clothes and home. Look at your own worldly goods and your life if you have not got much and find it hard to put food on the table, then you certainly need the money more than the priests and the religious cults.

Then ask why their lives are better off than your own? The answer is you help pay for their daily needs and luxuries. Jesus or God may be in your heart, but certainly not in theirs.

Any charity offered by these cultist are only related to a small percentage of earnings or direct charity gifts. This is all part of the religious con.

Veridiano is Puto, the one excommunicated by Eliseo Soriano, so from the very beginning, Liecaster is using one with questionable intents.

Daniel Veridiano is the "raped man."

Google for Daniel Veridiano using those words above and you will read his confession, his false ID, and the reasons he was booted out of the congregation.

From here, you will also understand the power and influence behind him - and the reason why Eliseo Soriano is wanted dead or alive by the Iglesia ni Cristo.

You will also understand why this poster keeps on desperately posting disinformation against Soriano, one item after another.

Despite his stories being flagged by moderators for needed improvement, he doesn't come up to par.

I repeat: He doesn't understand the accountability of writing.

In fact, by blowing up bits of information on a news story using the video medium, he resorts to selective reporting. and yet he does not know that.

I wonder why people like this one are allowed in news sites.

HI kotawinters,

thanks for the photo of Mr Veridiano. By adding this photo and by posting these comments you have just confirmed that the charges are against a certain televangelist. If you noticed, there was no mention of any name. It was only you and you alone who added Soriano's name to this article. Other readers would not have linked this article to Soriano, just as I initially intended. Even with the details provided, the subject could have been any one of the many televangelist around the world victimizing innocent people. Now, everyone reading this article will probably take a keen look at Soriano.

Whatever opinions anyone would have concerning Soriano and his church, or of Mr. Veridiano, does not have any bearing on the fact that Soriano is a wanted fugitive. Maligning Mr. Veridiano, or even the Iglesia ni Cristo, which has no connection to this matter whatsoever, will not help him secure freedom from prosecution. The only sensible action that Soriano can do is to surrender and have his day in court where he can defend himself and clear his name. I don't see any reason why Soriano would continue to run and hide other than maybe he's guilty.

In connection with this, anyone who knows where he is and does not inform the authorities may be guilty of a crime. If one provides a fugitive shelter or money he may be guilty of harboring a fugitive. What religious leader would put his flock in danger?

Now I read all your articles and what I am seeing is much hate Soriano of whom is already a hunted man.

Have you a personal reason for so much hate?

Is this part of a campaign?

I really don't like the elk of these religious businessmen but I would not make it a life's work to bring them down on their knees. Can't understand a logic objective other than a personal hatred.

Or is this all part of a vendetta with members of nowpublic that follow Soriano's religion?

No, I don't have any hatred for Mr. Soriano. What I hate is the libel and false accusation. The articles I'm responding to have been posted by Soriano or his shills from about 6 months to a year ago. The libelous content, calling the Iglesia ni Cristo killers, is the same content of which Soriano now has a pending libel case, along with 15 of this shills.  I did not make this up, it is published in newspapers.

Since Soriano, through his shills obviously launched a campaign on the web, mainly nowpublic, topix and blogs, to continue his libel then yes I'm on my counter campaign. I cannot libel like Soriano and his shills can. All I can do is bring to light what is true.

This is not vendetta. This is public service. Don't believe Soriano and his shills' libel.

I know a lot about this cult and what I see I do not like, its been a con from the very start its worst than the 2000 year old con of the catholic Church of whom I have a better respect for, but being an atheist I view religion as being silly and unbelievable. But I respect those that are indoctrinated its not them that's at fault and I know the power of faith and its prop.

But what I really hate is when sharp guys see away of making money from those that feel the need to believe in a God. Some find solace in sharing their belief with others and enjoy the social circle the belief brings into their life's.

My partner believes in God and gets great satisfaction out of her belief, she lost confidence of the catholic Church way before I met her, she prays direct and does not go to church. She a christian realized that all these religions are big businesses that any charity given is a bare minimum of the cash received into the holy cash pot. I am really proud of her attitude and common sense and would not dream of preaching atheism to her or change they way she is.

I do wish however many more believers would realize that if they want a relationship with their God they have no need to pay for that relationship, in fact that was one of the things Jesus Christ was trying to teach that one can pray direct anywhere and any place. His view on money being made on temple property can be seen in Luke. Where he kicked and turned tables over of the people doing business. God house to him was not business related in any way.

It simply a case of cutting out the middle man and praying direct as the middle man wants your money to buy nice clothes, nice houses, cars and put nice food on his table. The temptation is doing charity and something for others at the temple, the middle guys scoop up the profits. Televangelism is a big earner the twentieth centuries biggest religious con.

Soriano had jumped on this evil bus and even sold himself as the only one that really could read the bible and was teaching his follows that art, using a verse or two from the old testiments to make his statement seem to be the truth. he was more interested in understanding his bank statements and becoming a millionaire.

Many years ago a Chinese Filipino said jokingly at a fiesta party I attended, that he was going to start a new religion as it was more profitable than any of his present businesses. One of the main attractions is not paying tax. No product needed, no stocks just my indoctrinated flocks. lol

babel-fish,

not all religions are businesses. calling them as such is an insult to them and their members.

liecaster,

The fact that you cannot find him means something.

Your eyes have scales.

Although you have attempted to mislead the Interpol with your false reports, you cannot still find him.

He is out there preaching the Word of God openly to many internationals and you cannot find him?

It's because your mocked-up cases get reported to the One high above.

Eat  your heart out.

No power on earth is greater than the Almighty's.

You may use the courts, even the Secretary of Justice Raul Gonzalez who had re-filed that dismissed case.

UNLESS God allows, you cannot touch him.

I would rather side with the one preaching the Word of God than with one who spends his time maligning him.

hi kotawinters,

first of all, i did not mislead the interpol. come on now, do you really don't think i'm that influential? you should seriously find out how eli soriano made it to their wanted list.

if soriano, as you claim, is out there preaching "openly to many internationals" then he's not doing a good job. i'm in the U.S., in the bay area and he has no presence here.

i don't think the "One high above" will condone fugitives from the law, like soriano.

yeah you're right. i cannot touch him. and i don't want to touch him. i just want him found so he can face the charges and live in freedom like the rest of us.

soriano is not preaching the word of God. how can he if he's the one breaking them.

anyway, i wish you and soriano all the best. i hope he settle this rape and sodomy matter soon.

best regards to you.
