Patricia Rodas, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Honduras has been replaced as President of the OAS General Assembly Meeting in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

At the request of delegates and Foreign Ministers due to sited irregularities in the Conference, Rodas was replaced by Hugo Martinez the Foreign Minister of El Salvador.

It is reported that after a lengthy session the Minister ordered delegates and Ministers to sit and continue the session. It is also reported that Rodas was deviating from the agreed program for the Assembly which is non violence. Instead the Minister insisted on a continued debate on Cuba’s entry into the OAS.

The session finally adjourned for lunch at 2pm. After the break the discussion returned to the agreed topic of Non Violence.

The conference continues until tomorrow and it should be an interesting day. Many Foreign Ministers called for the inclusion of Cuba in the OAS in their speeches but it was made clear by OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza that the agreed topic was Non Violence, but the Cuba issue is one being pushed as far as it can go.
