Oath Keepers Vow to Fight Moves U.S. Doomsday Clock 1 Minute.
The American Doomsday Clock has been moved one minute closer to Midnight because of the group "The Oath Keepers," who have pledged to prevent a"dictatorship" in the United States.
In a story by Alan Maimon of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he says the group will ask police to not enforce orders given to them which they deem unlawful.
The group was formed in March 2009, and claims to have thousands of members, consisting of active and retired police officers, and retired military.
The Oath Keepers are quoted as saying, "... if the American people decided it's time for a revolution, we'll fight with you."

Not taking sides here. Just an observation.
When the little people feel marginalized, when they feel ignored, when they see their way of life threatened, they become angry. When they start talking, they begin to coalesce into groups, then the group begins to talk for them.
I think perhaps there are many, many people here that feel some, or much empathy with them, or similar groups.
Been a bazillion similar movements throughout history. Most have died aborning. If the cause of their discontent is removed, the group simply fades away. Left to fester, they can be dangerous.

One more bunch of loonies in the land of the free to be a maniac. (tongue in cheek). This is to do with the freedom to bare arms and the muli-billion dollar machine gun industry, lol
Now I ask do the 75% sane majority in USA citizens feel safe with these loonies looking after their well being?

The Oath Keepers are not any different than any other militia group operating in the U.S., and there are a lot of them, and they have been around for years. Most militia groups have the same mantra as the one written about here.
The Ruby Ridge incident in Idaho in 1992 involving Randy Weaver and federal authorities is believed to have been the impetus for the formation of militia groups in recent history.

Here is a list of the militia movements near you.

It's called nut cases with guns, A.
If there drivel breathers can spell their own names that will be an achievement - a very special long range rifle against the USAF? I know who I would bet on.
The US military are bound by oath to protect the US from those abroad and domestic - and these idiots think they can beat an Abrams tank?
I do wonder sometimes how stupid some people can be.

When they start talking, they begin to coalesce into groups, then the group begins to talk for them.
Hugh Askew is some additional information about group-think of which militias are a prime example.
One of the great fallacies of all times is group-think. It occurs as a person lets identification with a group cloud their reasoning and deliberations when reaching a position on a given issue. At best, it is a rhetorical device. At it's worst, it can be a very harmful replacement for sensible thought.
Group-think is commonly found in many areas of life. Group identification begins at an early age, when children take on the beliefs of their families, and later when they band together with their group of friends on the school playground. When children join a team, a club, or even as students of their school, the group becomes a source of identification. More harmful to children and society, are the gangs that are created to fulfill the human need to belong.
Another prime example of group-think is nationalism. It is the "my country, right or wrong, my country" mentality. It allows no room for logic or reason. When a national leader implies that if a country's citizens are not totally aligned with his or her policies, they are not patriotic, group-think has come into play. While patriotism is good and desirable, blind patriotism is not, and the fallacy is apparent when individual thought is replaced by group-think.

"What's troubling about Oath Keepers is the idea that men and women armed and ordered to protect the public in this country are clearly being drawn into a world of false conspiracy theory." (Review Journal.Com) We need to keep a close eye on groups such as these. Freedom does not come at the end of a gun barrel.

"Freedom does not come at the end of a gun barrel."
Sometimes it does, jefhow, sometimes. The colonies didn't have much more in the way of grievances than current Obama opponents.
Yet, when the King's men came for them, they stood, and fought, and died, at the end of a gun.

point taken Hugh...but this is a far cry from the days of old! I understand what your saying...I just do not agree with law enforcement officers...retired or not...threatening anyone with justice coming out of a .45...

I agree these groups need to be watched mainly because of their stores and active use of weaponry. They are, however, within their rights; and we cannot forget that. Actually, if they make themselves known to everyone, its the best way to keep abreast of their activities and motivations. People like Timothy McVay whose activities were born out of the militia movement was unknown.

According to this article:
Buzz is growing across the country as “patriot groups,” sprout up, some say mirroring a 1990s movement culminating in the Oklahoma City bombing that killed 168 people. Fueled by frustration born of the ailing economy, federal bailouts and, according to the Department of Homeland Security, inauguration of the first black president, radical groups are taking advantage of the current political climate to recruit.
“We think there is cause for concern,” said Travis McAdam, executive director of the Montana Human Rights Network.
And the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks “extremist” activity throughout the country, in a report this month points to the Oath Keepers as a “particularly worrisome example of the Patriot Revival.” The SPLC further reports that it’s likely only a matter of time before some segment of the Patriot Revival becomes violent.
The Department of Homeland Security considers groups that reject federal authority in favor of local authority “rightwing extremists,” according to an April 7 “threat analysis” released by the agency.

The bottom line is most of you people are attacking a group that promises to protect people rather than follow illegal orders to detain people without just cause, to torture people, to participate in illegal wars - you know the stuff that Obama promised to stop but he hasn't. And he won't, because he doesn't represent the people. He works for others just like Bush did.Yes, the U.S. government tortures people, and bombs innocent people in mass numbers. And it stripped Americans of their rights a while back with the Patriot Act. Why don't you have principles like Oath Keepers has? You just want to worship the government. The left-right paradigm fools most of you. You think there is some kind of major difference between Bush and Obama. You're supposed to think that. These are just stages in implementing a world tyranny.Follow principles. Not orders and uniforms and "authority".

You are bundling the Oathkeepers with the "similar movements throughout history." However, they are not a “militia” organization and they don't actively promote armed revolt. They vow not to follow orders that infringe on the rights of US citizens as defined by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I'm sure there are many militia organizations that fall into the description given by your discussion, but the Oathkeepers are not one of them. You argue an irrelevant topic (dangerous militias are forming in the US; Oathkeepers is a new organization consisting of military & law enforcement; therefore, Oathkeepers is a dangerous militia) presented in order to divert attention from the original issue (straw man). You are simply making your point by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic.” Oathkeepers vow to stand BY the American people, not oppress them. A common argument, especially by the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center, is to call out the race card by associating every dissenting view with a racist person or group (guilt by association). Another fallacy. "Most have died aborning any and every group in history." Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin, John Locke and James Madison spoke against their government, often meeting in private for fear of reprisal, before considering armed confrontation. Governments, educational institutions and business organizations maintain “think tanks” all over the world (Bilderberg, Club of Rome, Council on Foreign Relations, etc.), intent on dictating “the best course of action” for all instances of civilization and are called progressives, pioneers and reformers. Progress means not just changing, but changing for the better. But by whose measure? The wealthiest 1% of the world? I have no faith in their intentions because their actions speak louder than words. “Been a bazillion similar movements throughout history. Most have died…” Thank God the American Revolutionaries did not. “It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority.” --Benjamin Franklin
