Oath Keepers Vow to Fight Moves U.S. Doomsday Clock 1 Minute.
The American Doomsday Clock has been moved one minute closer to Midnight because of the group "The Oath Keepers," who have pledged to prevent a"dictatorship" in the United States.
In a story by Alan Maimon of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he says the group will ask police to not enforce orders given to them which they deem unlawful.
The group was formed in March 2009, and claims to have thousands of members, consisting of active and retired police officers, and retired military.
The Oath Keepers are quoted as saying, "... if the American people decided it's time for a revolution, we'll fight with you."

What is the citizen to do when the government has little accountability? And people are dying?

I get this feeling that there is little democracy here, over-regulation or micro-regulation, and hidden agendas of Big Corp, Big Pharma, Big Media are what run the country.
Lucky there is internet for the average guy like you and me. Internet gives us hope.

Internet so far, Obama is working to take control of that now.

Then maybe it will be time for a revolution.

Paranoia is alive and well..apparently. Doomsday cults(and this is the same) have been around for ever. They rarely do anything much of note except opine and end up shooting each other in a factional fight

Although I seldom agree with your view rng, I'm with you here. As far as I know no one has canceled elections or assumed absolute power. Anybody with eyes and ears can see that power is far from absolute, just look at the infighting in Congress.
These guys are sickos. Hopefully they don.t incite others to step over the top.

Although I seldom agree with your view rng...
What an odd thing to caveat a comment with, I tend to find no one is 100% wrong or right at all times. It depends what their view is on a specific issue. The question should be the issue not the individual

lol it was meant as a compliment.

ACP>.. goes to show ..even a complement can be sneered at.

Not taking sides here. Just an observation.
When the little people feel marginalized, when they feel ignored, when they see their way of life threatened, they become angry. When they start talking, they begin to coalesce into groups, then the group begins to talk for them.
I think perhaps there are many, many people here that feel some, or much empathy with them, or similar groups.
Been a bazillion similar movements throughout history. Most have died aborning. If the cause of their discontent is removed, the group simply fades away. Left to fester, they can be dangerous.

When the little people feel marginalized
On very thin ice here, but PC should not kill debate. There is a difference between little people and those of little intellect. There will always be a coalition of the stupid, and often low intelligence and high frustration results in violence. Rational people need a channel for expression, violence needs restraint. That IMHO is the thin ice we dance on here

Symptomatic of our present Executive and Congress: 'There will always be a coalition of the stupid, and often low intelligence and high frustration results in violence.'

peopleofwalmart.com or congress? There are stupid people in both but more in one than the other

One more bunch of loonies in the land of the free to be a maniac. (tongue in cheek). This is to do with the freedom to bare arms and the muli-billion dollar machine gun industry, lol
Now I ask do the 75% sane majority in USA citizens feel safe with these loonies looking after their well being?

The UN Climate Change Panel will introduce us to world government as part of the treaty. We will be paying out for all the years of CO2 "pollution".
UNESCO will push us to adopt the Codex Alimentarius and I won't be able to buy the vitamins, minerals and supplements I use.
WTO and GATT and NAFTA already undermine our sovereignty.
There is a basis for the fear.
at 18:59 on October 19th, 2009
Roy you sound like an isolationist. We can.t pretend to be living in this world by ourselves and we all have to have some give and take. Souvereignity is not derived by imposing your will on others.
Do you think that NAFTA was negotiated in favour of Canada and Mexico? NOT
Apparently you.re not aware of the battle we had in this country over the original Canada/US Free Trade Agreement. This was a very contentious issue in this country. It took long and hard negotiations with your negotiators. Those opposed in this country, accused the proponents of giving up Canadian souvereignity. The negotiators were accused of selling out to the US.
I really think people should take a look at it and see what benefit is derived from it for the U.S.
Even when we are right on an issue as determined by tariffs on soft wood lumber, it goes through a tribunal and if we win, we end up leaving millions of tariffs paid in the US.
I think there are two sides to every story.
at 21:46 on October 19th, 2009
100 - 100% agree with you, Karl!
NAFTA is nothing more than a charter for getting exports into the US on the cheap from Mexico and Canada. The reverse is not so much.
I welcome - even though I cannot abide Harper or his government - that he has opened free trade agreement talks with the EU. Let's hope those talks go well.
When it comes down to Canada having to sell natural gas and oil to the US before her own citizens - something is decidedly wrong. And that I do blame the Liberals for.
NAFTA should be renegotiated as soon as possible. And, as I am an Obama supporter he said he would, and I am awaiting him doing so. Canada is not just a supply chain to the US - and the sooner that Canada realises that the better.

Just send us all your wood, cowboy, and no one gets hurt. ;)
at 19:15 on October 19th, 2009
I don't sound like an isolationist.
I am for protecting our sovereignty. I am an interventionist if anything.
The problem with NAFTA is that Mexican companies, for example, can flout environmental rules and we can't do anything about it.
We can't enforce our own rules. NAFTA overrides them.
We can get benefits without having a treaty tell us what we can do and what we cannot do as a sovereign people.
Nothing against Canada and negotiating trades deals, but NAFTA and GATT and the WTO are ways to make it illegal for us to keep out products made abroad.
Our call. Not the call of some trans-national organization that we didn't elect and that doesn't answer to us.
at 19:50 on October 19th, 2009
Roy the NAFTA Dispute tribunal is made up of Americans and Canadians when a dispute is to be resolved. If you ignore the rulings of the tribunal, we have no choice but to take it to WTO. America has a pretty good record of ignoring first of all the negotiated trade deals, then the rulings of the dispute tribunal.
If you live in an international community you can't make up your own rules as you go along. Do you know what the closure of the US border over BSE was all about? It was plain politics to satisfy the Montana Cattlemans association, while they still fed their own cattle in feedlots in Alberta.
Texas Cattlerangers realized that the North American Beef market is integrated and as such the likelihood of American cows having BSE was similar.
A Premier in this province once said this about BSE, Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up. The problem is irresponsible actions like that, which happen, don.t solve the problem.
at 20:18 on October 19th, 2009
Shoot, cowpoke, did you tell Obama that?
at 19:17 on October 19th, 2009
And the UN Climate Change Panel? What about that? And the UN collecting a tax on us when we never signed up for one?
Sovereignty is a real issue. This is not about isolationism. We can go trade with every country in the world, but we trade according to our rules, not something made up by transnational corporations or the UN.
at 19:52 on October 19th, 2009
We can go trade with every country in the world, but we trade according to our rules,
and whose rules do the other countries trade under, yours too?
at 21:53 on October 19th, 2009
They trade under WTO which takes away our power to specify how tuna is caught, for example.
So, we can't make our own law that tuna must be caught in such a way as to save dolphins. No, that would discriminate against some country or other.
Each country decides how it wants to trade and who it wants to trade with under its own rules, which, by the way, it can change.

The Oath Keepers are not any different than any other militia group operating in the U.S., and there are a lot of them, and they have been around for years. Most militia groups have the same mantra as the one written about here.
The Ruby Ridge incident in Idaho in 1992 involving Randy Weaver and federal authorities is believed to have been the impetus for the formation of militia groups in recent history.

Here is a list of the militia movements near you.

It's called nut cases with guns, A.
If there drivel breathers can spell their own names that will be an achievement - a very special long range rifle against the USAF? I know who I would bet on.
The US military are bound by oath to protect the US from those abroad and domestic - and these idiots think they can beat an Abrams tank?
I do wonder sometimes how stupid some people can be.
at 23:01 on October 19th, 2009
This is an incredible list, an eye-opener!
at 21:07 on October 19th, 2009
When they start talking, they begin to coalesce into groups, then the group begins to talk for them.
Hugh Askew is some additional information about group-think of which militias are a prime example.
One of the great fallacies of all times is group-think. It occurs as a person lets identification with a group cloud their reasoning and deliberations when reaching a position on a given issue. At best, it is a rhetorical device. At it's worst, it can be a very harmful replacement for sensible thought.
Group-think is commonly found in many areas of life. Group identification begins at an early age, when children take on the beliefs of their families, and later when they band together with their group of friends on the school playground. When children join a team, a club, or even as students of their school, the group becomes a source of identification. More harmful to children and society, are the gangs that are created to fulfill the human need to belong.
Another prime example of group-think is nationalism. It is the "my country, right or wrong, my country" mentality. It allows no room for logic or reason. When a national leader implies that if a country's citizens are not totally aligned with his or her policies, they are not patriotic, group-think has come into play. While patriotism is good and desirable, blind patriotism is not, and the fallacy is apparent when individual thought is replaced by group-think.

Good point about group think and blind patriotism.
