The American way has it that issues come down to votes, and in this case one vote is needed to pass the Obama healthcare solution with the balance of the agenda hanging by a thread on one vote that may or may not come through resulting from Tuesday’s election to replace Ted Kennedy. What an insult it would be to the Kennedy legacy that Democrat candidate Coakley would let Ted’s spot in the Senate fall to the opposition at such a crucial time. Indeed, this is a test of the Democratic Party as much as it is for the candidate.

Massachusetts voters probably truly represent the sentiments of the rest of the nation. We question the quality of healthcare legislation. With so much at stake with the failing economy, can America take another colossal miscalculation? I don’t know if the new legislation is a miscalculation as much as it is an accident. At any rate, more often than not, people get hurt from accidents. That’s not the change I have been looking for.

Expected is the transformation from Obama to President, chief executive. Signs are that this has happened on some issues and situations, though not at a level that would assure full confidence. That is why Massachusetts waivers in consideration. Their decision will affect the rest of us, profoundly. I hope their votes come from sound judgment and that the outcome is not accidental.

“His health-care agenda at risk, Obama stumps in Massachusetts

By Paul Kane and Karl Vick

Monday, January 18, 2010

BOSTON -- President Obama made a last-ditch effort Sunday to resurrect the candidacy of a struggling Democrat who could provide him a critical Senate vote, returning to the city that launched him onto the national stage in 2004, this time to preserve his ambitious agenda.”

It is time to STOP this runaway train of ruination! This Government has already printed up over two trillion dollars and is poised to release it into the economy with little in goods and services to back it up - can you say HYPERINFLATION? ... I knew you could!

HA and EJ, I take it that you would like to see a Republican from Massachusetts for a change. If it is a Republican who can offer a fresh set of ideas and meaningful solutions and who can rise above partisan politics, that would be a change I could believe in.

I doubt that will happen, despite Republican claims.

Slowing down the imminent Democratic train wreck is a laudable goal, though.
