Before and after being elected Obama made many promises to change USA to make what he said he see as improvements. I have since notice that this has led to people being impatient to see that the promises that effect and improve their lives in the way they want is not at the top of the list of priorities.

Of course the republican far right opposition offer their forms of propaganda with many lies such as was seen concerning health care. Then such people concerned in gay rights are leaning on Obama for acceptance of gay marriage and military acceptance.  Then we have the peace activist lobbying for the removal of troops from the war zones.

Obama had actually placed him self into a position of too much responsibility on each and every promise made and that’s because citizens expect too much change in a very short space of time.

At present he has placed to much on his plate, he has in fact achieved many things concerning his ideas on improving the face of America abroad.  He had to take on many problems caused by his predecessors and of course he has to obey his puppet masters wishes the band of democratic elitist supporters that helped him achieve an obtain the presidents seat. Some of those that invested heavy in the H1N1 flue scam to sell pharmaceutical products etc.

Obama has a big problem of achieving a promise concerning bringing the troops back home. I don’t think it was easy as he thought before sitting in the seat of power. The job he holds does not come with a magic wand though impatient people think it does. His opposition of course use the views of the impatient as a tool to attack the new president.

The worst happened when Obama was honored with a peace trophy before he had time to achieve any such thing. That award has now placed him on a pedestal for those to attack him concerning Afghanistan the stress is mounting enough to at least make his hairy grey.

I was first impressed with Obama because of the words of peace and his verbal picture of a much more responsible caring America. I do not really like any politicians as I can never really be indoctrinated being now much wiser in political matters and its dreadful corrupt practices and know that the elitist use the system to benefit them selves. But Obama was saying the right things, though my impression is fading I still have the patience to wait longer than 9 months of his reign to make a full assessment of him and him actually meeting most of his promises.

Not that it really matters as what ever will be will be, but I do not want to say that he is heading down the same path as any of his predecessors before given total proof and not making any for of assumption based on the ranting of his opposition.  When a man makes to many promises at one time each one is expected to be fulfilled directly by those that are not smart enough to see complications that will slow down the promises. So I prefer to look for the complications but then wait to see those promises when delayed to be fulfilled later in the future as I expect many will be.

I am however not blind to the fact all politicians are corrupt or can be corrupted by power or at the promise of great monetary gain. Obama is human and a politician he has and will have weaknesses as most humans do, he is not a magician, will make mistakes and really the real mistakes are only the ones that should be made claim to.

Hopefully the real mistake are few and the corruption is light concerning the man presently in the seat of power in White House DC.

When I make promises I always do my best to keep them however some times complications beyond my control stop me fore filling them on time or not fully. A good president would have the same problem a bad would not care.

True Babel. The task ahead of him is daunting and failure is not an option. Hopefully he will deliver his promises for everyone's good.

Thanks for your analysis Babel.  I was never taken in by the wave of popularism that was an aura created around Obama.  I think leadership is about making decisions and not a popularity contest.  Unfortunatey I still see the U.S. President in the campaign mode.

No man is an island and boils down to the advisers he surrounds himself with.  I tend to agree that he must be given a chance and perhaps some patience is required.

Obama signed an Executive Order on Day one of his Presidency to close GITMO, a promise he has difficulty to keep as perhaps a plan should have been in place prior to making this announcement.

I think if the President had tackled on problem at a time and set priorities, communicated to the American people with expected timelines it would have been better received.

I will reserve judgment as he has still three years left in his first term.  My advice, for what it.s worth, would be to slow down, take a deep breath, and regroup.

While health care reform is important, Obama must turn his attention to the increasing unemployment and the war in Afghanistan.

I think he boxed himself in.

Yep, at present Afghanistan is the one I like to see being solved its almost like he shoved his head in the sand, taking his time in answering what could take the smile of his face. He can not magically create jobs and health care well we all know the answer to that and he has stated his stance. Creating jobs means creating a new manufacturing base and diversifying that needs the help of industry and investors and there must be some incentives such as taxing some imports.

But yes its going to take time and unlike the stimulas and bailouts he can not chuck any further money at the problem the debt has rose to an unsensible limit. So its going to take time of course many will not like that and his popularity will fade even more till he starts really to solve the problems well enough to be noticed. .

I agree.  Let.s see if he will communicate his priorities and get out of the campaign mode.  It.s time to show some decisiveness and an actual plan, especially for Afghanistan.

Not certain if Obama has read up on FDR or not. He certainly seems to have take more than a few plays from FDR's playbook.  The times seem similar enough, the leftward lurch is a blast from the past, and he had a public that was for the most part eager and hopeful, when he took office.

His auto maker deals, the TARP money, and his bumbling with health care, however, are hardy from the FDR book of big daddy governance.

It seems that he would have been much better served to have used the unthinkable amounts of money spent, by putting it into the hands of the little people.  He chose to give it to the banks.....a choice that could well haunt him for 3 more years.  The little people are the ones still hurting. The banks? Read the news.

Instead of making friends, he is making enemies, creating large doubts about his ability to rule, and eroding confidence.

He also forced himself into a corner by betting the farm on his early spending, cutting his financial wiggle room dramatically, perhaps fatally.

He has waffled on Afghanistan, to the point where even the little people see it.

He no longer appears as the savior, but a mere mortal, with feet of clay perhaps.

Very good comments here by Hugh and ACP without the vitriole!   A very good example for all to think about.

I do second abertacowpoke's assessment and agree with HA's philosophical approach on this subject. In July last I wrote in an essay: The US government has been recklessly borrowing and spending for too long. But President Obama has accelerated this recklessness to breathtaking levels. The U.S. is rapidly approaching its crisis point a catastrophic collapse will be the only way out.

Get ready for Obama’s Great Depression, who is following the playbook of the man responsible for the Great Depression of 1930s, Herbert Hoover.

President Obama like Hoover launched the biggest stimulus programs and tax increases that the U.S. had ever seen. Those policies doomed the US economy. Now, it plays out again with the result that millions of middle-class people are about to suffer. - It is sad that Obama didn't sufficiently looked into the potentials and capabilities of his men that surrounds him today. The very best and most capable one, Paul Volcker was elected and soon afterwards moved out of his team of advisers. Apparently the negative incapable ones do have the majority at his inner circle? If so, don't expect stunning results during his current term. The impression is that his inexperience played the biggest role in committing himself into too much too soon.

9 months is close to the time for a preliminary assessment of Obama. He is spending twice the money the government takes in and that is a disaster.

Health care is still being worked on and nothing in the two wars has changed,

Obama is trying to do a lot and much of it will never be done.

I hope he becomes the best president ever but I would be happy if the country improves during his term in office.
