Obama Blogger: Seven Reasons to Vote for McCain

After watching Barack Obama highlight global citizenship and a plethora of socialist talking points during his speech in Berlin today, I decided to check out his campaign web site and see what, if anything, was new there. What I found was a laundry list of seven reasons why Americans should vote for John McCain.

The laundry list (a.k.a., “gold mine”) appeared in the form of a link from one Obama blog to a post, Building A Lasting Majority, published Tuesday afternoon on the Burnt Orange Report.

The article, by lefty writer David Mauro, opened with this statement: “An analysis of the two presidential campaigns’ spending habits makes it clear that Barack Obama and John McCain are running two different campaigns.”

I must say that I agree with with Mauro on that point. Below I list several other points offered by the writer and follow each of them with my own BMW Observation:

  • Burnt Orange Report Point #1: The Obama campaign has spent significantly more on staff salaries that the McCain campaign has. Obama’s campaign had a June payroll of $2.3 million. BMW Observation #1: Obama is a big-government liberal.
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #2: McCain spent around $725,000 on staff salaries during June which is even less than the $935,000 Hillary Clinton, who exited the race on June 5, spent. The McCain ground game at this point seems to be severely lacking the resources it will need. BMW Observation #2: Obama is a big-spending liberal.
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #3: Obama is investing in staffers all across America … even in states where he has little chance to win electoral votes. In past elections, this might be deemed a mistake. Not this year though. Obama has the financial resources to place staffers across the nation and his campaign is very smart to do so. BMW Observation #3: Obama operates inefficiently and uses an expensive shotgun approach (not to be confused with a pro-gun stance) to campaigning when a less-expensive approach would make more sense.
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #4: This election is not just about electing Barack Obama (though, obviously, that is the principle goal). This year we have the opportunity to build a true governing majority that will enable Democrats to bring real progess. BMW Observation #4: Democrats have already proven that having a governing majority does not necessarily result in anything positive for the American people — think gas prices, for example. (Plus, as evidenced by Mauro, they can’t even spell the word, “progress.”)
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #5: The fact that Barack Obama has staffers in traditionally red states does not necessarily help him win the presidency, but it will make him a more effective leader if he does in fact become president. BMW Observation #5: Having representatives present in a certain geographic location does not translate into “effective leadership” (See BMW Observation #4 above for proof).
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #6: Obama may not immediately see a return on his investment in deep red states but those who criticize his spending our missing the big picture: a year like 2008 doesn’t come around often. BMW Observation #6: Mauro is right in saying that “a year like 2008 doesn’t come around often — and thank God, that’s true! (Spelling error #2: In the first line of Burnt Orange Report Point #6, “our” should be “are.”)
  • Burnt Orange Report Point #7: We would be fools not to try to seize this opportunity to build a governing majority that could last a generation. BMW Observation #7: Would be fools? No. Are fools? Yes. A governing majority that could last a generation? Truly frightening!

Thanks, Burnt Orange Report, for providing millions of Americans with seven reasons to vote for John McCain!
