I'm a 72-year-old white woman, a Vietnam veteran, mother of a Gulf War vet, and PROUD to be working every day to get Barack Obama elected!
Since I live in NW Philly I attended the event at Vernon Park yesterday in the late morning. I could not believe the immense crowds--TEN BLOCKS LONG--and had to wait in line an hour even to reach the entrance! Sen Obama's speech was inspiring and drew enthusiastic response from a crowd of African American, Euro American, Asian American and Hispanic American voters, and the young children and grandchildren they'd brought to see and hear our one candidate who can heal America, restore our Constitution, put a halt to back-breaking costly imperialism and welfare for the super-rich.
One of Sen Obama's themes was the economy, of course. He repeated his and Sen Biden's promise to tax the 1% super-rich (who have gobbled up billions over the past eight years, contributing nothing), give back money to the rest of us, restore oversight to cure the corrupt festering of non-regulation, bring jobs home, promote small business and build new energy conservation industries. Sound good to you? Sure does to me!
