NP Rank:
Obama To Declare Victory After Tuesday Primaries
It looks like Barack Obama is going to leave Hillary in the dust after next Tuesday's primaries and put her where she belongs. Behind him.
Barack Obama is preparing to claim victory in the Democratic presidential nominating contest after next Tuesday's final primaries in Montana and South Dakota. In a question and answer session Wednesday night with reporters on his campaign plane between Denver and Chicago, the Illinois senator dismissed the idea that rival Hillary Clinton's stated willingness to take her fight for the nomination to the party convention in late August would matter.
"When Dukakis won the nomination, you know, Jesse (Jackson) was still running until the convention," Obama said. "When Bill Clinton was running, Jerry Brown was still technically in it. As far as I can tell, this is fairly standard fare."
Obama said the nominee would be clear "after Tuesday." "I am sure we will have discussions with Senator Clinton and her team," he said.
He predicted that after the last primaries, "whatever remaining super delegates will make their decisions pretty quickly after that."
"If we've got the number of delegates to secure the

Obama certainly is arrogant.

Not at all. Just telling it like it is. Anyone who has a shot at President is considered self-confident by supporters and arrogant by detractors. It's the nature of the game! (:D)

Except for Hillary. And she still has a shot regardless. Since you're a Canadian, I'm surprised at you and your obvious bias. Your vote don't count.

Actually the numbers prove she is already out of the race, and after Tuesday if Obama sweeps those contest there will be no denying just a bunch 'a crying!
I know my vote 'don't count' but I know more about US politics than lots of Americans, and the outcome to your Presidential elections affects everyone on the planet. You guys want to call the shots globally well then you will just have to deal with the attempts to influence your election from outside your country.

good stuff, moonwolf. It's clear that Barack Obama has had the inertia and enthusiasm from the voter base to win the nomination for months. Hillary Clinton has run a shoddy and sometimes sleazy campaign in order to get the nomination. The message is pretty clear to me: The voters are saying they do not want another Washington insider to be president. It has nothing to do with her being a woman, and all to do with her tactics which are right out of Karl Rove's handbook. Obama has been as gracious as possible in allowing the democratic process to play itself out regardless of her dwindling chances, even going so far as to forgive her comment to comparing her own campaign to RFK's campaign.
I do believe Obama can win against McCain quite handily. McCain was humiliated by Rove and Bush in 2000 over a complete lie which allowed Bush to clinch the nomination for the Republican Party. He took the sympathy and outrage we had and it turned into disgust once it became clear that he was completely spineless against President Bush.
I also respect Ron Paul and I believe he has energized a large group of individuals to change the way politics will be shaped in the years to come. Let's just hope his constitutionalist ideas become the norm that they should be instead of some aberration in society that must be ostracized. Giving up rights for safety is a sucker's game because you can never truly be 100% safe. Giving government more power is not a good idea. Empirically, governments are the biggest mass murderers of all.
